Summary: sometimes there's no turning back. Sometimes there's no other way. You just gotta do what you gotta do.
"There never was anything you could do." He said, smiling wickedly. I shrieked in fear, knowing who it was. There was no way, right?
"Danny?" I whispered, collapsing to the ground in a fit. I recovered quickly, but the pain and shock was there.
He chuckled.
"Glad you remember me, Sam."
"What happened to you?" I cried.
"You can't kill the grim reaper without dire consequences." He said, looking me dead in the eyes. They were red. A glowing, bright, evil red. I leant in closer, and I still saw that tiny bit of green there. The Danny I knew and loved was still in there somewhere.
"Your time has come, Sam." He said and tried to grab my shoulder, but I pushed it away, making myself wary that a single touch could kill me.
"There has to be another way."
He sighed.
"Look, Sam." He said and stepped closer, and I took a step back. "I've prolonged this long enough. You were supposed to die weeks ago. I don't want to do it. But I have to. It's my job."
"Wasn't the whole point of killing the grim reaper to stop me from dying?" I cried again.
He laughed again. "It was, actually. But, Sam, you gotta understand. What's the word I'm looking for?" he said and paused. "Oh yeah. Fate. Sam, everybody's gotta die some day. Even me."
"But I don't want to die!" I screeched.
"Who does?" Danny yelled, angry now. "Do you think anyone really wants to die? Do you think that I want to be the one taking so many people's lives? I was born to help people, not destroy them!" he said, collapsing to the ground. "You just gotta do what you gotta do. Believing won't get you nowhere. I've seen heaven and hell, Sam, and trust me; heaven's name is one of the biggest over exaggerations ever. Hell's better, trust me. At least hell isn't a lie."
I leant down to him, trying to comfort him. He grabbed my shoulder.
"Sorry Sam." He said as he picked up her lifeless body. "Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet, and do what you gotta do."
