Naminé was five years old when it all started, her father had just passed away from a heart attack which left her mother heartbroken and lonely. After four months of grieving Naminé's mother turned to alcohol, Naminé was frightened the first time she found her mother drunk, she had never seen anything like it, the screaming scared her the most.
When Naminé turned six years old, there was no party, no celebration, her mother was far too drunk to even realize what day it was, never mind plan a party for her only daughter. Naminé went to school every day, trying to hide her ratty old cloths and dirty skin, every day her teacher would ask if she was okay and every day she would say the same thing.
At the age of seven, Naminé made her first friend his name was Sora, he was sweet to her didn't tease her the way that the other kids did. Perhaps it was because he was just like her, his cloths dirty and worn thin. By this time her mother had no money, for food, cloths, or the bills, Naminé hadn't eaten in days. The only thing that kept Naminé from starvation were the scraps she could find, and the food Sora brought her for lunch every day.
Sora's family had problems, his father was at war and his mother was working for minimum wage, they could barely afford to live. Despite their money problems they were quite the happy family and were delighted whenever little Naminé could join them. Risa Nakahara, Sora's mother adored Naminé, she loved to braid the little angel's long blond hair for her, every day before they left for school.
Naminé was a beautiful little girl, and although she lived a gruesome life she was happy because she had a friend in Sora. When Naminé Turned eight, her world became a little darker her mother had grown out of the sadness of her grieving and into the anger. The teachers all wondered but, they never asked because the bruises could be from anything, and it would be awful rude to go accusing.
The day before Naminé 's Ninth birthday Sora spent all day shopping, with his mother for the perfect gift for his best friend. The very next day The birthday princess didn't show up for school, so Sora waited with his gift wrapped and ready to go, until the next day. When Naminé again did not show Mrs. Nakahara became worried, so after school that same day they went to Naminé ' s home. They knocked on the door, but there was no reply after 3 minutes of waiting and knocking Risa, opened the unlocked door and stepped into the house. "go wait in the car sweetie" Risa told her son as she continued further into the house.
When Risa reached the living room, she found Naminé's mother lying on the floor barley breathing, a bottle in her hand. While calling an ambulance, Risa continued up the stairs after checking all the rooms, finally she looked in the bathroom. There she found A broken Naminé on the floor bleeding, the sight broke Risa's heart. When the ambulance arrived, Risa and Sora rode along to the hospital.
Naminé died that night, after five years of starvation and a year of constant abuse everyone said it was a miracle that she survived this long. It was Sora that kept her alive for so long, he was the only one she could depend on he gave her food and most of all he gave her all the love his tiny little heart could give. Never doubt the power of a great friendship.
