As the shot rang out the world slowed down, it was like a scene from The Matrix she thought, but she knew she wasn't going to be ducking under this bullet, still she had to try. Falling to the side with her arm behind wrapped around him, she felt the impact on the way down and it blew them back slightly. As they landed on the floor she heard another shot, she didn't escape this one either, stuck to the ground she covered him as best she could.

This time on impact instead of a pounding sensation this was a tearing, ripping feeling, it was in her leg at the top of her thigh. It must have gone through she thought, she wasn't sure but still pinning him down she couldn't check. There was another shot, this time from the other direction and as she didn't feel any pain afterwards she made the assumption it was one of the boys talking out the shooter. She heard confirmation of this shouted and immediately rolled off him. This movement sent pain searing through her leg and a pounding where the other bullet had hit her vest. She let out a deep cough and it felt like her chest was going to burst.

She looked down to see Richard Castle with his eyes closed, was he breathing? Had he been hit?

"Castle." She said. "Are you OK?" There was nothing so she quickly felt for a pulse in his neck, it was strong so she checked his chest but couldn't see under the vest. Ripping it off, followed by his shirt she found no wounds underneath and thankfully she could see his chest rising and falling. Sitting there staring at his chest inappropriately she had a quick thought, 'He shaves!' She smiled to herself, even let out a little snigger, even an unconscious Castle could make her laugh. Then she noticed his leg, and it was covered in blood.
