"Tori, look!" Cat exclaimed. Tori looked over to see what had gotten her girlfriend so excited (not that it was hard to do so). Upon pivoting her gaze, she saw a man holding a box. At first, Tori didn't see what was so significant. This was the state fair, after all. Strange things flourished and abounded here. Then Tori happened to catch a glimpse of what was in the box. Kittens. An entire litter of them. Tori didn't even have time to roll her eyes before Cat had linked their fingers and was dragging her along. They met up with the man holding the box in front of the Ferris wheel. Cat looked down into the box, squealing in delight.
"Oh my goodness! They're so adorable!" A big grin spread out on Cat's face as one of the kittens started gnawing on her finger playfully. She looked up at the man. "Are you giving them away?" The man shook his head and informed the redhead that no, he was not, in fact, giving them away... but if she wanted to buy one, he'd be perfectly okay with that. She considered the offer for a moment then nodded. "I'll take one! How much are they?" The man pondered the question then responded that he would sell her whichever one she wanted for fifty dollars, seeing as they were purebred. Cat agreed happily enough, but her face fell when she pulled out her wallet and opened it. "I only have twenty dollars," she lamented. She was about to tell the man never mind, but then an idea struck her. She put on her best pouty face and turned to her girlfriend, who had been watching the exchange quietly. "Tori," Cat lilted, "how much do you love me?"
At this, Tori's eyes narrowed in suspicion. She made her feelings clear to Cat very often. "Well baby doll, that all depends on what you want."
Cat's gaze dropped to the ground briefly before coming back up to Tori's eyes. "Well... Will you give me thirty dollars so I can buy this cute little kitty?" Tori internally groaned. If she allowed Cat to buy this animal, that would be one more thing to cockblock her. But it would make Cat happy, and that was enough for Tori, so she caved and handed over the necessary money. Cat giggled and gave Tori a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks Tor!" Cat then turned back to the man and gave him the money he requested. She looked at the variety of cats in the box very meticulously. She wanted to make sure she got a good one. There was a white one with grayish brown spots, a gray one, an orange one... Oh! That one was perfect. She reached into the box and plucked out a tiny black kitten that had bright green eyes and a little heart shape in the middle of his forehead. They left the man behind and decided to resume their date. First, they went on all the fun, adrenaline-inducing rides, like the rollercoaster that had four loops and three steep drops. Afterwards they played a few games. Tori won Cat a stuffed gorilla at the darts booth, which Cat received with open arms. They gorged themselves on junk food such as cotton candy, corndogs, funnel cakes, and a ton of lemonade. Before they knew it, it was getting dark. Tori already had this planned out. She led Cat back over to the Ferris wheel and they got on. When they finally reached the top, the wheel halted briefly. This was Tori's chance.
"Hey, Cat, look up." Cat gave Tori a puzzled look but acquiesced, tilting her head back. She gasped softly and Tori smiled, following her girlfriend's gaze. The stars were almost completely visible at the top of the wheel, and they formed a perfect picture of magic. Tori's hand fumbled around in her pocket briefly before finding what they were searching for. "Cat," she whispered, "look at me." When Cat's eyes met up with hers, Tori brought a small box out of her pocket and flipped it open. "Hey Cat... Marry me."
