Toothless knew.

He knew exactly what was going on with his little human. He was tiny. Too tiny to be a 'viking'. And weak, he could tell by looking at his toothpick arms. Toothless was almost surprise he can even lift the harness that he made. It must have been somewhat heavy. He also knew that he was an outcast, left out, lonely, however you want to explain it. Of course he knew, he was one himself. It wasn't hard to find out with all the remarks given to the little human. Hiccup may not know this, but this dragon was able to see that hurt in his green eyes easily. But, he's human. And humans don't always now.

That girl had irritate him immensely. It was easy to tell that Hiccup admired her and yet she was so dense to see it. So when Hiccup got her on his back, he decided to change it. Ignoring all commands from Hiccup, he took off flying, doing flips, dives, whatever comes to mind. The screams coming from her only encouraged him to keep at it. But then she had said she was sorry. Satisfied that she was indeed sincere about her apology, he stopped his crazy flying. Once he was gliding, he could feel her loosen up to look around. He had changed her attitude and he felt proud that he did. He had shown her that he and his human weren't all that bad. Because he knew better.

Then there was that huge viking. Apparently, it was Hiccup's father. However, the only possible likeness between the two was the hair and eyes. This human was loud and ignorant. Toothless did not like him. Of course, Hiccup never really told him about their relationship but this dragon knew. He could see and feel it when the female and him talk. So when he had save his little human and he was huddled in his wings near death, he kept them enclosed around his frail body, hiding it from all the human's eyes. He knew what they had done to Hiccup, how they had made him a loner. He didn't want them to hurt him again. Especially that huge human. It wasn't until the human's father apologize did Toothless decided him to give him a chance.

Because Toothless knew.
