A/N: more angsty one shots. This one was born from my "best friend" deciding that it was a good idea to pass note about how I was a bitch and that she was just working with me because I get good grades, couples with me brother screaming half the night. Yup, pretty miserable.
It wasn't that Roy needed him. Colonel Roy mustang didn't need anyone, or anything. But, he wanted him. He wanted the blond's body and soul. Because Ed was everything that he wasn't. Ed was young and innocent and pure. Something Roy couldn't remember being.
So, when he came to Ed, he didn't ask to sleep with him, he demanded it. He demanded Ed's body and Ed gave it to him because, Ed wanted to. Not that it mattered to him anyway. He wanted Ed to want him but, like all other things, he didn't need it.
The first time they had sex, Roy was angry and drunk and Ed complained about his ass all day after wards. The next night, he came back. Neither of them had any memories of a time when their relationship wasn't just drunken sex. Maybe, years ago back when Roy had a best friend and smiled and believed that he could change the world, he would have cared. But not now. Now he just wanted to forget. Defiling Ed and getting drunk went hand in hand.
Of course, eventually, Ed fell in love with him and that was what presented the problem. At first he kept his mouth shut but, then it changed and he began to wish that it was more then that. But, that wasn't what Roy wanted so, it didn't happen. Ed found that Roy made life impossible. He couldn't live with or, without him, so he lived near him. They shared a house and a room and a bed but, not a life. One night Ed tried to leave but, as mustang slurred, he had no place to go. He had given up his apartment; al had disowned him after he started seeing Roy and so, he came back inside. Back to whiskey tainted breath and sleepless nights.
Oh, there was no love on Roy's side. It was lust, want. Love implied needing someone but, he stopped needing the day he smiled Huges down the aisle. That was the first time he got smashed and the last time he needed, but he spent the next five goddamn years wanting what he knew he would never have.
When Ed got older, started to lose that innocence and purity, Roy stopped giving him missions because, he wanted to retain access to that purity. It didn't work. Ed tried to leave again but, this time, he came back because he needed to treat his burns. Back to whiskey tainted breath and sleepless nights.
It was a cycle. Ed couldn't break it, even though he tried and Roy swore that he could but, didn't want to. Each time it was worse, each time Roy was angrier and Ed fought less. Each time it hurt Ed more and Roy came closer to needing him, because he didn't love him and he never would. It spiraled out if control and as Ed fought less and Roy hated more. Ed died a little and Roy stole his strength, his youth, his innocence, and his purity.
Roy was disappointed when Ed died, but not heart broken. To be heart broken would imply need and Roy mustang didn't need anyone.
A/N: please review. If you don't I'll feed you to gluttony.
