Hey! This is based off of the song Lullaby For a Stormy Night. Enjoy!
The breeze cools your flushed cheeks. The sun warms your back and copper blonde hair. You stand there, enjoying his presence. He is silent, leaning against your side. It is a hallmark scene, you and him, standing on the hill, the sun setting and the trees framing you. It doesn't last. A cloud rolls in front of the sun, darkening your world. Thunder rumbles, and he yelps and clings to you,
"shhh. It's okay Artie," you murmur to him. A flash of lightning strikes the horizon, followed by a clap a thunder. He whimpers, and you scoop him up in your arms, carrying him to your home. The scent of love and happiness fills the house. You carry him to your bed and sit, cradling him, "shhhhh. It's okay. It won't hurt you. I'll protect you Artie," a pattering can be heard on the roof. The sun set, though you can't tell, and the moon hides. Thunder bangs on your safe haven. He cuddles closer, shaking in your arms. This is the only time he breaks, his only weakness. You adjust your weight and he clings to you, "don't leave me!" he cries. You stroke his hair,
"I'm right here. I won't leave you," you coo. The storm batters your roof and walls and he wimpers with every thunder clap. You remember something from past days, something that makes you smile. You don't need to think of the words, as they are etched in your heart. With a sigh, you pull him closer, and sing the lullaby from long ago, "Little child, be not afraid. The rain pounds hard against the glass. Like an unwanted stranger, there is no danger. I am here tonight. Little child, be not afraid. The thunder explodes and lightning flash illuminates, your tear-stained face. I am here tonight," he relaxes and sighs,
"this song..." he whispers. You nod and continue,
" And someday you'll know, that Nature is so. The same rain that draws you near me falls in rivers and land, and forests and sand. Makes the beautiful world that you see, in the morning," you feel his breathing slow and see his eyes flutter shut. You set him down, careful motto jostle him too much. His hand grips yours tight, so you have to tuck him in with one hand It's not easy, but you manage. You sit beside him in. A chair he quivers every time the thunder sounds, even in his sleep. A frown touches your face, "I'm not afraid of thunder, because I was held and comforted when I was young. You still are. We're you not loved as a child?" your phone buzzes and you pull it from your pocket. His brothers text glows on your screen, is Artie alright? I heard there was a thunder storm in your area. you smile and kiss his forehead, "never mind. You have always been loved, even if it was by one who acted differently," his sleeping face reminds you of the past, and tears slide from your eyes, "I can't wait to enjoy the beautiful world with you, so sleep tight. I'll still be here in the morning,"
