Disclaimer: I do not own Hunger Games or Katniss or Gale or Peeta or the Victor's Street or cats or ponies or chairs or Christmas trees (we sadly took ours down last weekend) or anything else except for my dog and some Harry Potter merchandise and an iPhone (that I wrote this and most of my other stories on) and other stuff as well. But something that you might sue me for. I'm strangely lacking in sue-able merchandise.
This is my last story to publish today unless it isn't (if that makes any sense). Please review it if you can! :) Here it is!
Tears poured down Katniss Everdeen's face as she walked home. The Victor's street was empty, but she was glad. She felt so alone, but she didn't want to be with people now. She felt dead. Peeta was dead.
"Katniss!" a voice shouted behind her. She didn't turn around. Whoever it was could come back later. She'd be there.
"Katniss!" the voice shouted again. She recognized the voice and stopped unsurely.
"Gale," she acknowledged, wiping her tears. "What?"
"I'm so sorry, Katniss," Gale said in a low voice. "I'm just so sorry."
Of course he was sorry. Everybody was sorry. But what good did it do? Everybody in the whole world could be sorry and Peeta wouldn't come back.
"I know," she muttered, looking away. And before she could stop herself, she added, "Everyone is."
"I bet so," Gale said, touching her arm. "Peeta didn't deserve to die. He was a good person."
Katniss let out a sob, but didn't reply. Gale slipped his arm around her. "It's okay, Katniss. Peeta loved you."
Katniss didn't acknowledge this, she just stayed silent. Gale pulled her against him. "Katniss, he did. Don't let yourself think he didn't. I know that's what you're doing."
Katniss shook her head, tears flecking the air. "No-I'm just-"
"Don't worry, Katniss," Gale said soothingly. "Just take a deep breath and calm down. It will be okay."
Katniss buried her face in him, sobbing uncontrollably. "He's dead, Gale!" she wailed.
"I know," Gale said. "I know. But he wouldn't want you to be so sad. It's okay."
Katniss relaxed, tears frozen on her face. "It's okay," he repeated. And she let herself take a deep breath and calm down. Peeta was dead, but the world wasn't over.
Did you like it? I hope so. If you did, please review! Even if you didn't, it's okay! You can still review and say why not! My sister and I only laugh at reviews if they say stuff like "Burn in hell" or "I don't get it I've never seen the show Kingdom Keepers." That's so funny ;)
Anyway, I don't wish to laugh at you. I don't even know you. Well, not really. I may PM you, but I don't really know you. I'm not looking to know people, just so you know! I don't want stalkers! ;)
Just kidding ;). But I really don't.
Linley :)
