February 1st, 2015 was the day Monty Oum passed away. He was an incredible man, who encouraged everyone within his group of friends, colleagues, and fans to do something creative. This is a response to his challenge, and the challenge I saw recently. To do something creative to honor his memory. This is for Monty Oum. "Keep moving forward."

Day 1, Date: May, 11th, 1996

I woke up today, and mom gave me this journal for my first day of becoming a Pokemon trainer. She woke me up early this morning, and made my favorite breakfast, pancakes with syrup and eggs with toast. She said "A trainer must always have a big breakfast before they go out on their first day." She told me stories back when she was a Pokemon Trainer, how she got her first Pokemon from a scientist in Pallet Town. Her first Charmander. She said Professor Oak gave him to her. He must be old to have given her Lizardon, and still be working with Pokemon.

I got my first Pokemon! I got a Charmander just like mom did. Except mine is a girl. I didn't know what to think of that, until Gary Oak decided to battle me. My Charmander bet his Squirtle! She is a tough one. I named him Pyro. Mom had a present for me when I got back, the other two starter Pokemon! I now have a Bulbasaur, and Squirtle, too! Mom says that she helped breed those two herself. She had gotten their parents by trading, and raised them. 'Til she gave them to me anyway. She says I will learn to see these natures as I train and raise them. They seem to trust me though, not as much as Pyro though. She said that Squirtle has a hardy nature, and Bulbasaur has a bashful one. Mom said I should name them. I named Squirtle Leonardo (Leo for short) and Bulbasaur I named Barney.

We all left today, to Viridian City. The fields are FULL of Pokemon. Lots of Rattata, and Pidgy. Pyro seemed to grow a little bit. We used Scratch a lot, and had him growl sometimes. It seems to be more useful to use Scratch more than anything. She learned Ember real quick while I had Leo and Barney use tackle. They learned more moves too! Barney learned Leech Seed, and Leo learned Bubble! I am proud of them.

Got to Viridian City. It was a long walk. I stopped at the Pokemon Center and asked the nice nurse to heal my three Pokemon. She was happy to, and gave them back to me, saying that she hoped to see us all again. I thought that was kind of weird. Like really weird. She also said we should stop by the pokemart. So I went there, and the clerk told me he got a package for Professsor Oak. I told him I knew him and he asked me to bring it to him, so I did. Long walk back… Might have to stay with mom and get some rest.

Got back home, dropped off the package. He was happy I have the package to him, and that he actually wanted to see me, and Gary. He gave us Pokedex's and told us to catch all the known Pokemon for him. I told him sure! I love Pokemon, and want to do my best. Be the best. I stayed with mom tonight, and all my Pokemon slept in the same bed. Pyro's tail lit up the room and I didn't need my night light. I feel like it's silly to sleep with it, but mom says it's okay to be afraid of the dark. I have a big day tomorrow. I have to walk all the way to Pewter City. Mom says there is a gym there, with rock type Pokemon. Perfect for Barney and Leo to take on. I might see some cool Pokemon in Viridian Forest on the way too! I read that there are some cool bug type Pokemon in there. I might even catch a Pikachu! That'd be so cool, having a Pikachu.
