Today, he told her that he loved her
Put a ring around her finger
And promised her forever, together.
She watched as the love of her life stand in front of everyone. She hadn't wanted to come, but she had to see Jennifer for one last time. Even if that meant seeing him put the ring around her finger.
Today, she smiled for all the pictures
And he was right there with her
Making all the memories, without me.
And it hurts to say this out loud
Looks like she's really gone now.
She watched as they danced, she watched as they posed for all the pictures that would end up in scrapbooks and photo albums. Some would even be hung on the wall. The ring around Jennifer's finger seemed to shine brighter, as if mocking her.

She blinked back the tears as the happy couple left the dance floor to cut the cake. As of custom, they smashed cake into each others faces. While everyone else laughed in delight, she cried in sorrow.
Today, I thought about the moment I could have said I loved her,

She remember the night quite clearly. Both of them were laying in bed, both sated with a night of love making. Jennifer was curled on her chest, the younger woman humming quite contently as she ran a finger down Jennifer's back. She had realized then that, after months of supposed no-strings-attached sex she had fallen, fallen hard in love with the woman in her arms. But even though she wanted to say those three little words, she now she couldn't. And she should have, because she lost the love of her life slip from her fingers later that week.
