A/N: So, I wrote this for my English class and thought that with a little tweaking, it could be a cute little Shules scene. Hope you guys enjoy it!
In the Snake's Den
The house was a wreck. A layer of dust and grime coated the windows and floor. Cobwebs hung in the corners and chandeliers. Shutters hung low on just one hinge or were off all together. The paint was chipped. A thick musty odor suggested it had been months since someone let fresh air in. The house had not felt the presence of a human being in years.
Yet, Juliet Spencer loved it. She couldn't wait to get her hands on some cleaner and get to work. The thought of watching this house return to it's former glory sent a shiver of excitement through her body.
Juliet could just see herself working in the flower garden out front. She could hear the twins laughing in the upstairs playroom. She could smell of the hamburgers as Shawn grilled them on the back patio. Imagining all the possibilities made her almost giddy.
"Jules!"
The startled cry of her name broke through her daydreams. Quickly, she ran into the front study.
"Shawn, what's wrong?" she asked worridley. Her husband was looked white as a sheet.
He pointed to the built-in bookcase on the opposite wall.
"O-over there...third sh-shelf," he whimpered.
"What?"
"It's a," he gulped, "it's a snake!"
Juliet sucked in her breath quickly.
"A snake?" she questioned. You could clearly hear the waver in her voice.
"Yes, a snake! And it's not funny!," he cried indignantly.
"Of course not, Sweetie," she said comfortingly.
Juliet walked over to the bookcase and looked on the third shelf. There ciled in the back corner was a green snake about ten inches long. She thought it might be a garter snake, but she couldn't be sure. She was sure that it was completely harmless.
Picking it up carefully, she turned to her husband.
"How about I take this little guy outside and you look at the dining room and kitchen. Does that sound good?" she calmly suggested. She wasn't laughing but you could see the amusement lighting up her deep, cerulean blue eyes.
"Okay, first, this is not funny. Second, why do you want this place anyway? It's a complete mess and," he shudders, "houses snakes."
At this statement she did laugh.
"Hun, first, it is hilarious not funny," she smirked as he sent a small glare her way, "and second, it doesn't house snakes. You found one. If we find anymore, we'll just get rid of them and set traps or something."
"Well, it's still a dump."
"Yes, but that's why we'll clean it up. Look, Shawn, this house was once something special. I know we can make it that way again. Please, Babe, just look at the dining room," she asks, pleading slightly.
"Fine," Shawn sighs and heads down the hall.
As she goes to the front yard, Juliet knows this is the perfect house for them. Pretty soon, her husband will, too.
