I was having a conservation with a friend about a totally different topic, this ficlet came to life. It's totally PG, no spoilers, just a bit of whimsy.
"Save A Horse..."
Tony approached the creature warily. He'd heard of them, of course-everyone had. But they had always been the stuff of myths and legends-a creature too beautiful and magical to be real. But Gibbs was showing him they were real.
"It's okay, Tony," Gibbs said softly, his hand stroking the shimmery coat of the creature. "Come closer."
Tony did, his own hand reaching and stroking the soft nose. "Is this real?" he asked in wonder.
Gibbs nodded. "We've kept them hidden from humans, to protect them, but yes, she's real," he said, tugging the creatures ears. He watched as Tony's hand moved hesitantly up her nose. "And yes, you can touch it."
Tony did, pulling back a bit when the she shook her head.
"Stop that," Gibbs ordered. As most things do, the creature obeyed Gibbs' words, once again allowing Tony to stroke her, snuffling into the younger man's hand. "Want to go for a ride?"
Tony's eyes widened. "Really?"
Gibbs just nodded, moving to allow Tony to approach the creature's side. With a bit of maneuvering, Tony mounted up, then Gibb's grabbed a handful of mane and gracefully levered himself up behind Tony. He looped his arms around his lover and whispered softly into his ear. "Hang on."
The unicorn lifted from the ground.
