Author's Note: I decided that I would write a NaLu one-shot as another apology for not being on for so long. That, and I wanted to see how well I could write angst. This is sort of based off the theory that Natsu is E.N.D. I know not many people agree with it, but I think it's really possible.
Disclaimer: I don't own Fairy Tail. If I did, this pair would definatly be together now.
It was another silent night in Magnolia. The stars twinkled in the sky like they always did, unless cloudy. The streets were empty, which only ever happend at night. The Fairy Tail guild hall was closed, meaning no crazy actions from them either.
It truly was a peaceful night.
People were most likely asleep safe and sound in their beds. Among those people included a blonde, celestial wizard named Lucy. She was finally getting some well-needed rest after the mission she, Natsu, and Happy went on. Her soft snores filled her dark apartment while she slept snuggly in her warm bed. The window by her bedside was opened slightly, letting in a breeze from the sweet summer night.
Trying his hardest not to disturb the young woman, Natsu moved one of his legs on Lucy's bed, careful to not make it move in the process. His face was tear-streaked and the expression he wore was one of panick.
Earlier in the night...
Natsu had just gotten set in his hammock. Happy wasn't with him that night because he was at a sleep-over at Wendy's. His charcoal eyes drooped closed due to the exhausting mission from earlier in the day, ready to escape to his dreamland.
A dreading metal scent filled the air. Natsu looked around startled by the overwhelming smell. The place he stood was pitch black. Deciding to follow the scent's trail, Natsu began to walk forward. As he walked on, he noticed the darkness began to fade into a brighter light and the dragon slayer started to sprint toward it, completely curious of the scent that was filling his every thought.
When everything was lit fully, he saw it. Blood. The bright red liquid was covering the ground like a blanket. Looking over his arms, he noticed he was too.
But it wasn't his blood.
The sound of sobs echoed through this strange place.
"Natsu..." agony filled a rather familiar voice that came from behind him.
Natsu slowly turned around to see the person.
His eyes widened.
"Why... are you... doing this?" Lucy questioned through labored breaths. Her body lay before him battered, broken, and burnt.
"W-what do you mean, Luce?" He knew he could never do anything like this to his nakama. He had to know what she meant.
"You..." she coughed up blood.
Natsu rushed to her side, resting her head on his lap. "Lucy. Who really did this to you?" he asked deperately, as if feeling guilt. But he shouldn't feel guilty right? He didn't do this to Lucy.
You did... a voice that wasn't hers, rang inside his head.
"N-no I could never-"
But you did...
Natsu stared at Lucy. "Luce... did I really...?" he asked, afraid to finish his question.
She looked at him. "Yes, you did."
That's when he woke up, sweat drenching his brow. Tears still running down his face.
"Lucy."
Desperate to make sure it was just a dream, he went to her apartment. Upon finding her sound asleep, his look of panick disappeared, replaced by a small smile. Natsu climbed into the bed and snuggled into Lucy's side.
Noticing the change in heat, Lucy woke up slightly.
"Natsu? Are you okay?"
He looked up. She saw the tear stains, but, nonetheless, he still smiled brightly at her.
"Yeah, it was just a nightmare."
"Okay..." And with that they fell asleep.
Hope you liked it. I know it's really short, but I wrote most of this half-asleep, so you really can't blame me. Also, please leave a review and tell me what you think.
Cop, signing out!
