I heard Yumi calling out the commands as I was quickly transferred into Lyoko.
"Odd! Ulrich!" I called running over to where they were.
"Aelita!" Ulrich started, "You need to get to the-" He was shot down. I watched as Ulrich was rematerialized, disapearing.
"Aelita, just go find the towers," Odd said, not taking his eyes off of his opponent.
"Right," I said, running past him.
"Find Jeremy," He called after me.
"Got it," I said. I hadn't gone more than a few yards before I was approached by the same monsters Yumi and I encountered in the sewer.
I screamed.
"Aelita," I heard Odd's distant voice call. "Are you alright?"
"I'll be fine," I said, more determined than ever. I felt suddenly empowered as I lifted six beasts into the air at once. They spun around me, faster and faster until they collided with a bang.
"Aelita?" I heard Odd. "What was that?"
"I don't know," I laughed. "I've never used that much telekinesis at once."
He laughed back. "Go find the towers. Hurry up!" I ran, waving at him. As I looked up and saw the activated tower. I gasped, stumbling into it.
I didn't land on a platform, though. I screamed as I fell into the deep, black hole.
I hit the ground with a thud. "Jeremy!" I shouted in terror.
He was covered in a long, black cloak. "I've been waiting here for you."
"Jeremy, what's going on?" I said, taking a step back.
"Aelita," He said. "I'm not sure how to tell you this."
"What is it?" I said nervously.
"Aelita…there aren't three activated towers."
"But Yumi said-"
"Forget that. It was a trap-"
"By XANA?" I asked.
"By…me, Aelita."
"You? Why-" I started, panicking.
He grabbed my arm firmly. "I'm XANA," he said. "That's why."
"…What?" I said.
"Aelita…I'm sorry-"
I jerked away. "Jeremy, I don't understand."
"Aelita, please-"
"How did this happen?" I whispered through tears.
"I was only trying to-"
"Jeremy," I said in shock, unable to finish my sentence. I shuddered away.
He grabbed my shoulders. "Aelita, I need you to listen to me. I need you to do something for me."
"Jeremy-"
"Aelita, I need you to kill me."
"What?" I said, angry and confused. "You aren't making any sense."
"Aelita, please. If you don't-"
"What's the matter with you?" I said. "What are you talking about?"
"Aelita, Lyoko is going to collide with the real world. I allowed XANA to posses me to we could end this now! Please-"
"Jeremy, don't be-"
"Please, Aelita," he said, tightening his grasp on my shoulders. "Do this for me. Do this for all of us."
I breathed heavily. I felt his lips connect with mine. I nodded, pulling away.
"Goodbye, Aelita."
