Kimberly met up with Billy in the park as she always did. She smiled when she spotted him sitting near the pond. "Billy!" she called out, waving.

Kim's smile was always contagious. He could see why most guys - especially one Tommy Oliver liked her. The thing was, he wasn't most guys. The simple fact was that he was gay. No one knew, and that was the point. Homosexuals were not something welcomed with open arms here in Angel Grove. Billy just wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this little fact about himself a secret.

"So, what's up?" Kim asked as she flopped herself down on the piece of grass that was next to her friend.

Now, that she was here, he really wasn't sure how he could actually tell her. "Um, nothing." he lied which she knew. He didn't just call her a few minutes ago to meet her here for nothing. Something was bothering him. She could tell by the wrinkles forming on his forehead. Those usually popped up when he was stressed about something.

"Yeah, right." Kim replied. "Come on Currington, you better spill!" she warned and raised her hands up in tickling position ready to strike at any moment. "Tell me."

Billy reached out to her, placed his hands over hers to put them down. There would be need no for tickling because that was childish and what he had to tell her was no game. He did take a breath though before he gave her what she asked for.

"I'm gay."

It took a moment for Kim to realize what he just said. What seemed like forever to him, Kimberly finally reacted to the news. "I know."

That's when Billy's jaw dropped. "Know!" he questioned. "How did you know! No one knows!"

"I mean, it makes sense." she calculated. Kim recalled when a few of her friends like Trini showed some interested in Billy but he didn't return their affection. Instead, his eyes were sometimes fixated on Jason and some of the other boys in his karate class. "And because I wanted you to tell me when it was right for you."

What got Billy was that she didn't seem disgusted by the idea that he liked other boys at all. "Then, you're all right with this?"

That's when she raised a eye brow at him, as if she was insulted. "Why would I be?"

Billy shrugged. "Maybe because it's not normal."

Kim crossed her arms. "Who says?"

"Everyone."

"Um, hello. Do I look like just 'everyone'?" she asked with a smile because Kimberly Heart was one in a million. "Billy I don't care who you like. That's your business and if it makes you happy. That's what counts right?"

Billy tossed his arms around her. "You're my best friend." he whispered in her ear.

Kim hugged him back. "Don't you forget it."

That's why she was his best friend because no one got him the way she did. Of course, she would accept him. She would never turn him away over something silly as sexuality. However, she knew there would be others who wouldn't and she'd be ready stand up for him when no one else would.
