PROLOGUE

I used to love this city, so much that I couldn't stand it. But I loved someone even more. This person was so special that I became furious when she spent time with her family and not me. She'd always come over to play, or the other way around. We'd laugh and play till' the sun came down. But it was always bright with her by my side. I was her Ying, and she was my Yang. "No matter what happens we'll always be together!", I remember her saying it, over and over again.

So often, that I'd say it along with her. Oh how wrong I was…

She left three weeks after my birthday, and I never heard from her since. The day she left, she said that she'd return. I repeated these words when I woke up, during school, while doing my homework, and before I go to bed. But when I turned twelve I came to the point where I lost all hope. I realized that I didn't need her. She'd only hold me back from fulfilling my dreams.

But something deep within my cold, merciless heart told me to not lose hope. However, I ignored it and moved on…without her.
