A/N: This is Five Times that W.D. Gaster actually cared about his coworkers, and one time they cared about him. I'm honestly not sure why I'm doing this sort of thing. I could be writing some roleplay replies instead of doing this. Or proceeding with my Ukagaka project of getting my version of W.D. Gaster onto a ukagaka. Instead I'm writing crackfic. Oh well, at least this is somewhat productive. Though, I could also be writing things that aren't crackfic. Or modifying things. Perhaps learning how to code. Then again, this ain't about me.
This is split up into five chapters. Gaster is also a Dadster in this continuity.
"Alphys!" The call of the young intern's name rang through the lab, along with footsteps of bare feet that belonged to her superior. He usually walked around in bare feet, save for Snowdin, where he'd wear crimson boots. She'd chalk it down to the fact that he simply disliked wearing shoes.
Another sentence was muttered, but a little quieter. W.D. Gaster, the Royal Scientist, was fairly certain that his workers would appreciate it if he didn't yell for someone that might not be in the labs. "Come on, surely she'd be around somewhere. I need her for something-" It was then that he'd look into one of the other wings of the laboratory, sighing and walking down the corridor.
These halls stretched for an awfully long time.
The doctor's bones began to rattle. He might have been worried about her. Just a little. Okay, that aside, he still had no idea where Alphys was. What if she'd burnt herself? He sincerely doubted that her father would ever forgive him for that. Or if she got hurt and had to take a mandatory leave. Her father would definitely be more willing to kill him in that circumstance, surely-
Come on. He couldn't start going down into an anxious spiral. Not right now. With his head held high, he continued to check every one of the rooms, finally finding the youngest member of the science team in the third room on the left. Upon seeing the intern, his rattling immediately stops.
She had her head rested on her arms, and was sound asleep. Gaster merely gave a soft chuckle at this, before exiting the room. He'd only be a moment, he told himself. (Mind you, he frequently got lost in the labs. Eventually, signs were put up to prevent him from actually getting lost for the forty-fifth time this week.)
In the fifth room on the right, he prepared a makeshift bed. Though, the mattress had certainly seen better days, it was okay for most of them when they needed a nap. (Mostly him, though. He was the only one that stayed overnight to check on things. Recently, he's been trying to get a formula right.) The pillow was still in good shape, and so was the duvet. A lot of headaches and migraines were slept off here.
Surprisingly enough, he doesn't get lost (for once) as he makes his way back to the room Alphys was in. Gaster gingerly picked her up, pressing a small (platonically-intended) kiss to her forehead, and walking out of the room.
At the very least, her posture would probably improve.
After Alphys is placed in the bed, he draws the blanket to her shoulders. If the both of them were lucky, her glasses wouldn't be damaged by the time she woke up.
