Moonlight Reflections

Disclaimer: I don't own Rise of the Guardians, just like everybody else on FanFiction.

It is time. I know Bunny will hate me for this, but I have chosen him, just as I have chosen all of them. I smile to myself as I listen to Bunny mutter under his breath, "Please not the groundhog, please not the groundhog," over and over again. Be careful what you wish for, my dear guardian. I direct a single ray of moonlight onto the crystal, shattering the beam into tiny fragments of colour and forming the figure of…

"Jack Frost," North remarks.

"Actually, the groundhog's just fine," Bunny murmurs.

As their conversation continues, I think to myself, Why did I choose him? Jack was perfectly happy causing his usual mischief, making unsuspecting people slip, beginning a snowball fight, freezing all the water in town. He was a more laid-back soul, preferring to spend his time having fun rather than working hard. And over all three hundred years of his life, he has managed to stay on the Naughty list.

But he has something the others are lacking. He has spirit, the bravery to do what it takes to accomplish whatever he has set out to do. And that's exactly what the guardians need. Pitch is becoming stronger, and there is more danger out there than ever before. Something that could threaten their very existence. Something that could cause them all to give up. But even if they all lose hope, Jack won't. He will fight until the very last crumb.

It's that spirit that the guardians—the world—is missing. It's about time the name Jack Frost became known more than just an expression; about time they all welcomed a new guardian. I knew, from that moment he saved his sister and fell under the ice. I had known all the along. After all, that's what the Man in the Moon does.
