It was like Marineford all over again.

Everything was seemingly in slow motion- bodies were falling one after the other, bodies that were once so full of life...and now they lay an empty, cold, corpse.

Luffy...

He raced past those dead corpses. He resisted the urge to puke at the putrid smell radiating off the bodies of the corpses in waves. He refused to look back- he refused to try to do something about the innocent people that were being cut down, and he refused to do anything about the guilty people that were also being murdered. He had one goal, and one goal only in mind: to save Sabo.

I'm sorry...

He couldn't let it happen again. He couldn't lose Sabo again. He didn't think he could bear that kind of pain, especially since Ace wasn't alive to do anything about it.

But I've at least protected you thus far..

This time there was no Jinbei to help him. There was no Buggy, there was no Crocodile, no Whitebeard, no Trafalgar Law, no Garp or Shanks. There was only Luffy, and a bunch of random citizens and pirates, and there was Akainu.

Sabo smiled a bitter smile as flashes of he, Ace, and Luffy as children playing and making a living in the woods passed through his mind. The blonde knew his little brother wouldn't make it in time. Not even Koala or Dragon could reach him, not at the speed in which Akainu's attack was coming.

I'm glad that I met you. There will be no happy ending for me this time, Luffy.

And then Akainu's lava fist pierced Sabo's heart and then Sabo was coughing up blood and then he was on the ground smiling as he took in his last breaths, and then he was still.

"SABO!"

I don't know where this came from. Please review.
