Natalia's eyes traced the room as she laid in her bed. Another long day, thrown in the trash. Gone, forever. It's not like they have any meaning. To Natalia, life was idiotic. Ever since she was young she never had any friends, other than a few people who would occasionally talk with her, but she still always sat alone at lunch. Always. She would cling to her big brother Ivan in cases like this, but now that he's gone off to college he's absent most of the time. Her only other sibling is a woman named Katya. She acted as the mom of the house, as their parents died when they were young. As you can see, Natalia's life had no meaning.

Natalia pulled the covers up to her shoulders, and closed her eyes. 'Tomorrow will be better,' She thought to herself. 'I have to have a good attitude...it's what mother would have wanted...' A tear rolled down her cheek as she fell asleep.

"Come on, Natalia...wake up...you don't want to be late for school..." Katya spoke rather softly as she shook Natalia gently.

After Katya left the room, Natalia slowly got up out of bed. 'Stay strong...' She thought to herself as she changed her clothes and picked up her backpack. As she walked out of her room, she took a grey hoodie from the coat rack by the front door and put it on.

As she was slipping on her shoes, her sister came up to her and said, "You want some breakfast? I made pancakes..."

"Sure. I'm not really hungry now so if you could put those in a plastic bag I could bring them with me." Natalia replied. Katya nodded and took a Ziploc bag out from the cabinet. After Natalia got her shoes on Katya handed her the bag with the pancakes. Natalia put them in her front hoodie pocket.

"You...be careful out there..alright? Don't let anyone bully you..." Katya spoke to Natalia.

"Alright..." Natalia muttered as she left through the front door. As she walked to school, Katya noticed she was rather slumped over. She let out a deep sigh and closed the door.

As Natalia was on her way to school, she mentally braced herself for the day ahead. 'I wonder if I'll make a friend today,' Natalia wondered. 'Maybe somebody I can sit next to at lunch,' There were many options. There was that one girl with the short blonde hair in her science class. What was her name...Erika? She seemed nice, and quiet. A good friend for Natalia. There was also that one with the long, brown hair and the frying pan she brought around in her backpack. Natalia never knew why this was the case, but she knows that she has it.

'There are many options, aren't there? I need to talk to at least one today-' Natalia's train of thought was cut off because she was hit by some guy running to school, clearly not paying attention. He fell on the ground and his papers flew out of his backpack.

"Ach! Be careful!" Natalia shouted at the person who was struggling to put his stuff back in his backpack.

"Sorry, sorry! I was in a hurry, didn't see you!" He yelled back, as he continued to pick up the papers. He was tall and blonde and always had that little cowlick that stood up on its end.

Natalia got a good look at him. 'I know him,' she thought. 'He's in my English and Geometry classes. I could try being friends with him, but...no. I need to start with someone of my gender. Besides, he's pretty obnoxious...' Natalia thought.

"Again, I'm sorry, dude. See ya!" He said as he ran off.

Natalia sighs. 'I'd better make it to class, I don't want to be late.' She thought as she moved at a bit of a faster pace than she had before.
