A/N: Wow, this is the first time in an ice age that I've posted anything! ;; I've been trying really really hard to write something for the Naruto series, but I'm not at all creative enough to write fiction anymore, it seems. --;; Anywho, I wrote this poem for English yesterday, and I thought I'd post it just for the heck of it…
Warnings: None
Pairings: None really, but NaruSasu and NaruSasuSaku if you squint really hard…
Notes: The poem is written from Sasuke's point of view, so all the 'I's refer to Sasuke. The italics are from the third person point of view, and all the 'you's refer to Naruto. This poem is set in a scenario where Sasuke killed Itachi and came back on his own.

My life is now gray,
it was once white and black
(And he's terrified that you won't want him back)
There's dust on the doorknob,
this past feels so old
(He's tired and hungry, lonely and cold)
This village seems smaller,
this table, this bunk
(He's grown so much taller, his world has shrunk)
It's right here, this picture,
facedown on the shelf
(It's been three long years, what to do with himself?)
Soon they'll know I'm here,
hear the alarm bell
(He'll watch angry faces through bars of a cell)
The glass window shatters,
word travels too fast
(He wonders if this is his first or his last)
Twin death glares before me,
it's old but yet new
(He hates knowing that he missed both of you)
A lump in my throat,
I feel fire in my eyes
(She's gotten so strong and you've gotten so wise)
Petals and grass,
the sky and the sun
(It's finally over, he's lost and you've won.)

A/N: The following is an analysis of the poem, in case parts of it were confusing. This was for an English class, after all, so there had to be an analysis lol.
The first verse refers to the fact that Sasuke's only goal up until now was to kill his brother, and now that this has been accomplished, he's not sure what comes next. All he knows is that he has to see Naruto again.
The second verse is when he returns to the Uchiha compound after his long absence.
The third verse is about how small Konoha seems after he has spent so much time out in the rest of the world.
The fourth verse refers to the picture of Team 7 that Sasuke turned down before he left.
The fifth verse is talking about the ANBU sensing his presence and coming to arrest him.
The sixth verse is his house being broken into, and he wonders if these are the only people he will see before he is jailed or executed.
The seventh verse has Naruto and Sakura standing furiously before Sasuke, and Sasuke reflects on how familiar this scenario is, but yet how different all of them look now.
The eighth verse is Sasuke feeling sentimental against his will, unable to stop himself from admiring and loving the two before him.
The ninth verse refers to Sakura and Naruto, and how Sasuke is finally home, which is what Naruto wanted all along.
