I was watching Friends, because it just started from the beginning and I got this idea while watching it. I know that this is a bit random. On the other hand, this could happen to anyone.
"So, Neji, you are still dating that girl from your team?" Neji just sipped his tea. It was always horrible for him when Hinata's parents came for a visit. Even Hinata didn't want to face them alone so she begged Neji to be with her whenever Hyuuga elders were coming over. Now he had to endure the pain of being asked far too intimate questions and listening to his aunt, while she was belittling him.
"Yes, aunt. Tenten and I have been discussing about her moving in with me. I'm going to ask her to marry me." Neji tried to stay calm. He did everything he could to keep his stature. And still he couldn't stand being treated like an infectious disease. Neji enjoyed shocking his aunt and uncle, though. It was amusing how they wouldn't have liked to let him do his own decisions. The face of his aunt was almost white when he told her that Tenten was moving in with him. Oh, the little joys of life.
Today, Neji knew just what to say to his uncle and aunt. Or, he knew something that Hinata should tell her parents. She had been awfully quiet the whole time. Now, Neji was giving her the look that said "Tell them now, or I'll leave you alone next time." Her parents noticed his stare and turned towards their daughter. Hinata gulped. It was now or never.
"Mom, Dad, I hope you aren't mad, but I'm with someone, too." Hinata paused to look at her parents. They just smiled telling her to carry on. "I've known him… for a long time and… I'd like you to meet him." She was blushing. Neji was laughing in his mind. If only they knew who he was.
"Hinata-cousin. Could you tell them who you are talking about?" Now everyone stared at Neji. Hinata had thought of leaving that teensy bit of information to wait until he would meet her parents. But girl's gotta do what girl's gotta do. She took a deep breath to calm herself. "The one I'm dating is Uzumaki Naruto. I'm already going to move in with me and he proposed to me last week."
The room was silent. Hinata's parents were staring at her and Neji was sipping his tea in silence. Hinata was blushing and staring at her toes. She knew that her parents would be mad, but this was weird. Usually they started shouting at her and then to each other. This was bad, too.
Suddenly, the elders turned to Neji. He slowly put down his cup and looked at his aunt. This wasn't good. "And you knew this?!" Neji sighed. And he had dared to hope that their daughter's dating would finally get them off his back.
