Knitting

Kushina paced around the room anxiously. She was wondering how to break the news she had just receive to her husband.

A sudden idea came into mind. She quickly rushed to get her knitting supplies, and took refuge in a room where she was sure she wouldn't be disturbed.

She grabbed a big ball of blue wool, and she assured herself that it would be enough; she started to knit stitch after stitch as fast as she could. Hopefully she was finished by the time Minato came home. She never liked the fact that he had to work late, but today was an exception. She needed him to be late in order to give herself enough time.

A few hours later….

She had gotten lucky. It was one in the morning and her husband still hadn't arrived. After she was finished the last stitch, Kushina set the needles down. She held up her work to eyelevel looking it over to see if everything was perfect. She smiled in satisfaction. Yes, this would explain everything to him. She wouldn't even need to utter a single word.

She was putting everything away when a knock at the door made her stop. Kushina, hastily, shoved her knitting behind her back.

"Kushina?" A man with spiking blond hair and blue eyes peered into the room.

"Minato, you're home!" She said excitedly.

"Yes. Look I'm sorry I took so long, but I had a lot of papers I had to go over." He explained

"No, it's okay." She responded. Excitement was building up inside her as she waited for the right moment to tell him the news.

"Have you been knitting?" He asked noticing the multiple balls of wool and needles.

She nodded in response. She then felt that it was the right moment.

"I went to the doctor just like you suggested." She said casually.

"What did he say? It's nothing serious I hope?" He asked in a worried tone taking her free hand.

"Well I'm . . ." She hesitated as he stared at her, waiting for an answer.

With a grin on her face, she revealed what she had worked on the whole day.

Minato took a step back to look at the object in her hands. He stared back and forth between Kushina and the blue baby boots made of wool.

"Y-Y-You mean to tell me . . ." He stuttered when he finally understood.

"Yes! We're going to have a baby!" She announced.
