Hearts call, hearts fall, swallowed in the rain

Roy hated the rain anyways but it was on this day that he hated it the most. It seemed as though the earth was crying for him. Ever since she had gone away, he had regretted each day he could have told her he cared for her, wanted to be with her, that he loved her.

Who knows? Life grows, hollow and serene

In her school, in London, Raye watched the rain fall outside her window and felt the same sadness. She had seen it in his eyes, felt in the touch of his hand when he had helped her into the carriage the day she left.

"Maybe I'm just imagining it all. There's no way he could ever care for one like me. I'm sure by now he is surely betrothed to Lady Rockbell. No doubt she will be a fine wife for him…."

Wandering in the winter light the wind can act the same
they're witness to salvation and life starts over again

In a fury, Roy donned his warmest rain gear, ran out of the house and into the pouring rain. At the stables, he saddled his horse much to the surprise of the stable boys and bid them to say nothing to his father or mother. Out into the rain, he rode off, faster than he had ever gone before. The clock read 5 when he left and he had until 10 to make it to London. Luckily, it wasn't far and he would make it, hell or high water.

The wind sped him along, giving him wings to fly. He was bound to rectify his mistake. Granted, his parents would surely disapprove of breaking the engagement to Lady Rockbell but what was that compared to the mistakes he had made with regard to Lady Raye Hino?

Now the clear sky is all around you, all... around...
Love's shadow will surround you all through the night

The storm blew off, leaving a clear sky bathed in colors of green, pink, blue and yellow as the sun set. Raye opened her window to hear the bells of the church strike 6. The streets were quiet and the bells rang out, loud and clear. Sitting in her window, Raye closed her eyes and leaned back to enjoy the song when the sound of hoof beats could be heard on the streets below

Star glowing in the twilight, tell me true
Hope whispers and I will follow, till you love me too

Above him, the first star of night shone bright and Roy wished on it with all his might as he rode into the yard of her school

"Please, don't let me be too late. Tell me there is still time to apologize for what I have done."

Raye recognized the crest and the horse but couldn't believe that it was him.

"He rode all this way and in the rain? Why would he do such a thing, unless…"

Now the clear sky is all around you all... around...
Love's shadow will surround you all through the night

To the surprise of the young girls who worked in the stables, this man came riding into the yard with barely a word, left his horse to their care and darted into the house. Inside, he caused quite a fuss that had the head mistress coming down the stairs in fright. He bowed politely, apologized for his appearance and asked to see Lady Hino, that it was most important. Before a bell could be rung, Raye was down the stairs with wings on her heels and into his arms. Outside, the colors darkened, deepened and the stars came out one by one. By the pond, Roy dropped to his knees and explained his folly.

Star glowing in the twilight, tell me true
Hope whispers and I will follow, till you love me too

Above them, the same star that had urged Roy on smiled in its light as Raye forgave him and admitted to the same. The fury in the Mustang house was short lived as they really hadn't approved of the Rockbell engagement to begin with and the joy in both houses was enough to shut down the county for a week long festival.
