Prichard was a man on a mission. It was a mission that he knew was utterly hopeless, but a mission that he refused to give up on, no matter what the cost. And the cost was no minor matter. He'd lost his job, and then apartment, and then finally, even his wife and children had abandoned him. But there was one thing that kept Prichard going, and that was the Truth. And the truth would not be denied, overwhelmed, or suppressed. He gathered up his meager belongings and got up from his cot at the homeless shelter. Then he grabbed the most important thing he owned – the thing that had ruined his life – a sign that bore witness to the ignored and forgotten Truth.
Shinra did Sector 7.
It all checked out. The plate collapsed at freefall speed, which was impossible, unless the entire Pillar holding it up had been wired to blow from the inside. It was true that A.V.A.L.A.N.C.H.E. was spotted at the scene, but Shinra's Turks, had, too, and their helicopter had been positively identified onsite before the plate fell onto the inhabited city below. Prichard was willing to credit the idea that A.V.A.L.A.N.C.H.E. and Shinra were working together, the "terrorist" group acting as controlled opposition in Shina's quest to take over the entire planet, but after piecing together information gleaned from alternative newspapers and talking to people in bars, Prichard was 100% sure of one thing.
Shinra did Sector 7.
It was hard to maintain good hygiene in the homeless shelter. Prichard religiously washed his clothes in the sink twice a week, but he was still an unshaven, unshowered mess. He went outside, ignoring the pleas of the social worker assigned to his case, and he hefted his sign high above his head. It proclaimed the undeniable truth in bold letters:
Shinra did Sector 7
"Get a job!" someone shouted at him as he trudged out to the street corner in Sector 6 where he did most of his protesting.
"I have one!" Prichard shot back.
Prichard had been arrested several times during the course of his crusade against the Shinra Power Corporation, and now he was blackballed from working at Shinra or any of its subsidiaries. Which, of course, included most of the industry in the city of Midgar. So he was now a full time protestor, living on the margins of society and doing what little he could to get the truth of Sector 7's downfall out to the ignorant masses. Most people completely ignored him. A few cheered him on and shook his hand, and still more threw bottles and cans at him, or showered him with curses. He was used to being called a terrorist sympathizer, a fascist, a conspiracy theorist, and a fool, but he'd done all the calculations and examined all the available footage from every conceivable angle. The Turks had been messing around on the Pillar on that fatal evening, and whether A.V.A.L.A.N.C.H.E. bore any responsibility or not, the truth remained.
Shinra did Sector 7.
