Ten Years. Ten freaking years. America couldn't believe it's already been that long since that day. Sighing as he walked into the world conference building he plopped down on to his seat next to Canada.
"Guess they remembered what today is" He could hear their whispering, their glances in his direction. After half an hour he couldn't take it anymore and excused himself. For once, no one asked what was his reason to leave.
Walking though his beloved city he stopped to look at the ceremony at ground zero. People were frowning, most were in tears.
"You couldn't stay away either, could you dad?" Turning he saw his daughter, the state of New York. "No" He said, a bitter smile on his face.
They both remembered that day like the back of their hands. Thinking of that day, they started unconsciously rubbing the two scars on their arms, deep in thought. Osama may be gone, but they both still fext a bit of fear crawl into his skin. What if others tried to do what we did? What if-
America snapped out of it when he heard one person on the stage yell, " This country shall never be broken!"
And for the first time that day, he smiled a true, happy smile. He knew as long as his people kept believing in him, he would never fall.
