A/N: My first fan fic! Squeeee! I'm excited, terrified and everything else! May give up, but hopefully not. Constructive criticism is accepted, but no flames! Apologies for OOC and general offence…

Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, the setting or the show Jane and the Dragon. I do own this abysmal plot. Yes, I am very positive!

It was mid-afternoon and the festivities were almost over. Today had been the most exciting day in Jane's life to date- she had become a proper knight. After years of vigorous training, all her hard work had finally been paid off. Glancing at herself in the mirror, she groaned angrily and tugged at the sleeves of the ridiculous gown her mother had insisted on her wearing. She had made it especially for Jane, with an ebony dragon on the back. Jane supposed that it could've been worse, but today of all days was not the day to wear a gown. Unfortunately Sir Theodore, Jane's mentor, insisted that she must wear it.

I look like a right fool, Jane thought to herself. At least no one will laugh at me. No one except-

A loud knocking on the door interrupted her thoughts.

"Jane? Hurry up, you've been ages!" It was the arrogant voice of her fellow knight Gunther. Ever since they had been squires, there had been a fierce rivalry between the two, determined to outdo the other in any sort of combat, training or chore. But now that they had aged, both physically and mentally, the two of them had almost put a stop to the petty insults they used to throw back and forward at each other like dung in their squire days- almost.

"I'm nearly ready!" Jane called back. Quickly, she grabbed her brush and attempted to tame her wild hair. She had let it grow down past her shoulders now, which enhanced the fiery complexion. Her piercing green eyes had become larger and greener through the years, and almost penetrated those who held her gaze. With her facial features and her toned and sculpted body, it was enough to make any foolish boy attempt to court her. But all the men in the castle knew that Jane cared about one male, and one male only- Dragon. But not in the way that everyone expected.

As she opened her wooden door, she realised that she was not the only one who had changed during the journey from squire to knighthood. Not that she spent all her time looking at her fellow knight, mind you. Gunther was now even taller than Jane was and his slicked-back hair was even darker. But his storm-gray eyes still remained and if Jane looked closely, she could still see the ignorant squire inside him.

"What are you staring at?" Gunther asked arrogantly.

"N-n-nothing" Jane stammered, blushing slightly.

Yep, thought Jane. He's still the same old rude, bossy, arrogant, sarcastic Gunther. And that's probably all he will be.

A/N: Gah! Very short. Very scared about this…..
