Authoress' Note: My first YYH story, I'm a huge Kurama x Botan fan as well as Yami x Tea/Anzu. This is just a little one shot I had pop in my head. Enjoy it!
It's a chilly winter evening, and a certain red-haired half-demon was making his way down the busy streets. He ignores the hustle and bustle as a nippy breeze whips through his bangs, lost in his thoughts. But he wasn't thinking about evil or tournaments or anything of the sort. He was thinking of her.
Botan.
Ever since they met, he'd felt as protective of her as his human mother, whom he loved dearly. But for Botan, this love was different. Though difficult to explain, it was even harder for him to confess his feelings. He sighs softly as he gazes up at the moon, fresh flakes of snow beginning to fall all around him. But he'd waited long enough. He was sure of it.
'That settles it.' Kurama thought. 'I'm telling her. Tonight.' Only question was...how? He couldn't go to Spirit World in person. People could listen in. And if word got out...
Kurama shakes his head briskly. He wouldn't think that way! He had to think of a way to lure her down to him. Then it hits him: Maybe he could fake an emergency. It was sneaky, he knew, but there was no other choice.
An hour later, the two meet in the park.
"So, Kurama, what's the big emergency?"
"Botan...there is no emergency..."
"What??"
He sighs as he turns to her. "Botan..." Botan gasps softly as he takes both her hands, gazing up and into his emerald green eyes. "there's something I've been meaning to tell you for a long time..."
The girl remained silent, though her eyes sparkled in curiosity and a soft pink blush formed on her cheeks.
"Botan...I...I think...I have feelings for you..."
Botan blinks in shock and awe.
"I love you, Botan..."
"Oh, Kurama...I love you, too..."
"Uh!! Y-you do??"
"Of course! I just...was afraid you wouldn't feel the same. And I wasn't sure at first, but...now I know..."
"Oh, Botan..." He holds her close as they both smile, bathing in each others' warmth as both their hearts beat softly against one another. They then look back into each others' eyes.
"How about joining me and Yusuke for a cup of hot cocoa, Kurama?"
"I'd like that..."
They both then lean in and share a deep kiss...Their first kiss. The night suddenly felt much warmer. And it would stay that way. All winter...and forever.
