My Terrible Genius

Entry #77, 2:33 PM, Saturday

It's been a really long time since the war with Kronos has been over, but I can't help thinking if Luke is actually alive. Maybe he's in some secret dungeon somewhere, planning his revenge. What I also couldn't help thinking about is what would have happened if Luke came back? What would Annabeth do? Run after him? Become his girlfriend?

Entry #78, 2:48 PM, Saturday

I tried to keep my heads away from these thoughts, because there's one tight secret I've been trying to keep for so long. I have a serious crush on Annabeth. I didn't tell anyone yet. I do have to tell somebody eventually.

Entry #79, 3:10 PM, Saturday

I've compiled a list of things I would do to Annabeth if she were my girlfriend: 1. Kiss her, 2. Kiss her, and 3. Kiss her. That's pretty much it, I guess. But you can't escape it, Diary. Guess what Annabeth did yesterday! She dyed her hair auburn brown! Boy she looks as good as a model with that hair, if you know what I mean. I can't believe I was embarrassed when she kissed me all those times. Now I know what that meant.

Entry #80, 3:30 PM, Saturday

But how can I get her attention? We don't talk about each other much. I was thinking of asking an Aphrodite girl of how to impress her, but I changed my mind. I should know how to impress girls! My teeth are all aligned and white now, my biceps are pretty big(much better than how they use to be!), I have a six pack, my breath is always sea-minty, what else? Bye, Diary!

I looked back at my entries in my small notebook. Four entries in the last hour. Wow, I must really be into Annabeth to talk about her so much. I can't let anybody see this diary. Not unless I want everybody to find out who I really like. I couldn't help but write about her.

Over the months after the war versus Kronos, I tried to gather the courage to ask Annabeth to go out with me. I was kind of scared because Athena might send a huge diabolical monster to kick my ass. She disapproved of our friendship, and I couldn't imagine how furious she would be if she found out Annabeth and I are dating.

How could I get Annabeth to notice me so badly that her jaws will just drop, and we would somehow be together and I'll just keep doing my long list (check entry #79) of things to her? Ideas started flowing into my head like the spreading of wildfire. Then I saw a light bulb being lit in my brain: I got it.

I'll get a girl to go out with me, to be my pretend girlfriend, to make Annabeth jealous. Then, we'll break up, right in front of her. It'll be really nasty and she'll slap me and everything, and then she'll be there as a rebound chick. How foolproof! Absolutely perfect! Annabeth will be so jealous!

I also, had to find a girl that would be pretty, and a girl that Annabeth is already jealous of. These are the girls I listed in my head: Stacy, a tall, blonde, cheerleader daughter of Aphrodite, Rebecca, a brunette undetermined girl in the Hermes cabin, and Charlize, a really pretty blonde girl from the Zeus cabin (he has lots of kids nobody ever knew about).

First things first though, I need to find out which girl would agree to my plan. I made for the Aphrodite cabin, to see if Stacy, the first girl on my list would agree to be my 'girlfriend'. I had some decent clothes on: a pair of jean shorts, a half sleeved Levis shirt(for my 16th birthday from Annabeth), and a pair of tennis shoes.

When I arrived, Stacy was standing outside, with 2 other Aphrodite girls, with their cheerleading costumes on. I walked over to the three girls and greeted them. They use to reply scornfully, but then they greeted me in a friendly manner, after the war.

"Hey hey, Percy." Stacy said melodically. The three were sitting down with their legs spread out on the ground.

"Hi babes," I said, in a dude-like way. "How's cheerleading going?"

"It sucks." Said Stacy's friend, Lisa.

"Your damn right it does! How can we look so good when no guys are running after us? Other than Percy?" she then giggled playfully, as did the other 2 girls.

"That's exactly what I want to talk to you about Stacy." I commented, smiling a white smile.

"Well? Speak up, Percy!" she prompted loudly.

"Alone, Stacy." I said quietly, meeting her blue eyes.

"Fine. Wait up babes." She told her friends, and we started taking a walk away from them.

"Listen, Stacy, I need you to do me a really big favor. Humungous, giant, huge, you know what I mean? Bigger that the Empire State-" I started, but she cut me off.

"Whoa, whoa, Percy. Hold up. Does it involve any fighting, monsters, swords, or anything like that?" she mentioned seriously. "Then if it does, count me out."

"No, no, no. It's about Annabeth. See, I have a plan on getting her to like me." I confessed. "And I really need your help."

"How can I, help you?" the expression on Stacy's face became amused. "That's your job, not mine."

"I need you to be my pretend girlfriend, so I can make Annabeth jealous, and then, when I see that she's really jealous, you know, about to blow up to smithereens, you'll dump me so bad that she'll feel so sorry that she was even jealous, and she'll be the rebound chick." I explained, and waited anxiously to hear her answer.

"I don't know, Percy. I don't like that idea. I hate deceiving people, especially Annabeth." Stacy said uncomfortably. "Count me out."

"But Stacy, you're a daughter of Aphrodite, for the sake of the gods! You're an expert at this stuff. You're the only person that can help me!" I said desperately. "It's only for two weeks. That's not long, is it?"

"Good luck, Percy." She said with finality, and walked away in the direction of her cabin.

"Wait, Stacy!" I called, but she didn't turn around to look. She just raised her hand and waved it, and I knew she wasn't going to accept, whatever girl it was. I have two more girls to ask. I went to the Hermes cabin and asked Rebecca. She said she can't do it because she has a crush on this Hermes guy called Jake. I then went to Zeus' daughter, Charlize.

"Sure, I'll do it! But under one condition though." She said enthusiastically when I asked her.

"What would that be?" I said, pleased that she accepted.

"You need to get me an airplane ticket from here to California or to Vegas." She said, and my heart sank.

"Where would I get that much money? Besides, you're a daughter of Zeus. You don't have to take an airplane to fly anywhere! Zeus can just make you float in the skies!" I said, exasperated.

"Then count me out." She slammed the door behind her. I kicked the floor in frustration.

My mission failed. What a waste of time thinking of this plan anyway. What if Annabeth doesn't even get jealous? This plan had a big hole in it, and wasn't foolproof at all. If there would have to be one person in this camp that can help me get Annabeth, that person would be a daughter of Aphrodite. I asked Stacy, and she refused. All the other Aphrodites I don't know or I just plain don't like.

I entered my cabin in disappointment, not willing to continue with the day. I didn't really want to talk to anybody at the moment. All I wanted to do was stay with Annabeth. I buried my face in my pillow in failure. It wasn't long until I slept again, and as usual, had a dream about Annabeth.

I was forcefully awoken. I tried to get back to sleep again, but I was pushed off my bed. I knew what this was. Cabin check. I opened my eyes to see beautifully tanned female legs, and looked upwards until I saw short shorts, and hen a tanktop, and then Silena, a daughter of Aphrodite.

"Sorry, Silena." I muttered as I stood up to look at her face. She smiled her perfect white smile, which reminded me of Aphrodite, the time I saw her when I was retrieving Zeus' lightning bolt.

"Your room is messy again." She wrote something on a clipboard full of sheets in her left hand. "What's your excuse now?"

"Wait, wait. I have a really good excuse. I was being romantic." I said truthfully. Silena stopped writing on her clipboard an looked at me, about to laugh.

"Being romantic?" she giggled. "You crack me up, Percy. That's the best one I've heard today! And the only one I've heard today." She resumed writing. I then had an idea. Silena can help perfect my plan! It wouldn't hurt to ask her.

"Silena, the truth is, I need your help." I said slowly, and looked deeply into her eyes. "I want Annabeth to be jealous of me but I don't know how."

"Oh, Annabeth!" Silena stopped writing and looked strangely at me. "What have you thought of that might work, Percy?"

"Well, I was thinking that I would go out with a girl, so that Annabeth will become jealous, and then we break up, and she'll be here as a rebound chick." I construed. "What d'you think?"

"It's a start… What girl do you have in mind?" she asked, pen on her lips.

"Well, I asked your sister Stacy, but-" I started, but Silena interrupted.

"Stacy! Ha! She's the innocent type, Percy." Silena said scornfully. "She doesn't take after her mother."

"Then who would be the girl that would be my girlfriend?" I asked, worried.

"Don't worry, we'll think of a girl. In the meantime, I'll help you, but you have to meet me in my cabin in 30 minutes. Or one hour. Not sure." Silena said, looking at the watch on my wall. "We need to plan for this in detail. I think I have an idea to perfect your plan." She smiled evilly.

"Your probably Aphrodite's favorite daughter." I said happily.

"Why?" she asked, smiling.

"Same mind."

"Well then. Have something to eat. After that, you know what to do." She smiled again, and walked out. My heart jumped in joy. This is some terrible genius.
