One Tree Hill
Lucas sat at the funeral while his mom was crying and hugging him. Lucas just stared past the coffin, past everything. He kept feeling hands squeeze his shoulders, it didn't help because the one person who he wanted to squeeze them was never going to again.
For the past week he hadn't talked, he'd just taken care of his mom. He knew Haley, Nathan, Brooke and Peyton were worried about him.
Then felt somebody yet again squeeze his shoulder and said, "Lucas, why don't you go have a break, I'll stay with your mom," the voice belonged to Whitey. Luke looked at his mother, who nodded and told him to go have fun. When she said fun it was like Skills, Nathan, Haley, Brooke and Peyton popped up.
"Don't worry Mama Roe, I'll take good care of our boy here," Skills told Karen.
"I know you will," Karen replied.
"Follow me," Skills told them all. Everybody followed, Lucas dragged along behind all of them, keeping an eye on everything. If Peyton fell with her crutches he'd help her.
"Lucas, how are you holding up?" Haley asked. Everyone turned to look at him. He shrugged. He hated when all attention was on him.
"Luke, you haven't talked to up in a week," Brooke gave Lucas a pleading look.
Just look at your feet, just look at your feet, he kept thinking.
"Ok, we're here," Skills announced. Lucas looked up and there was the River Court. He looked at the bench and saw Jim then his uncle in two different images. He hated Jimmy Edwards for what he did. He killed his uncle who had just adopted him. He had destroyed his family. Lucas shook his head and walked away.
"I'll talk to him," Nathan told the group. He ran up to Lucas and walked beside him.
"Luke, man we're really worried about you."
"Just leave me alone, Nathan," Luke said and kept walking.
"Lucas, I'm your brother and those back there are you're friends it's our job to make sure your ok."
"I'm fine," he said.
"Luke, I get what happened to Keith sucks okay? I do. He was my uncle too," Nathan said.
"Nathan you don't get it okay," he said as he kept walking away, Nathan then turned him around.
"Then make me get it, tell me what's wrong,"
"It just…I don't know nothing," Lucas stumbled.
"Luke, it always fells better to talk about it."
"O.K, when I saw that we were at the River Court I looked at the bench, first I saw Jim there and then I saw Keith. That monster killed my uncle who was my adoptive father; he destroyed my family and deserves to rot in hell, O.K? Did that make you feel better Nathan?" Luke shook his head and walked away.
He went to his house, grabbed his car and took off. Next thin he knew he was reading a sign:
