A/N: This is my first real fanfiction so please review and leave some feedback. This may turn into a multichapter if there's requests for it.

There was a music festival on campus that day. Gajeel and his band the Dragon Slayers were set to perform towards the end of the show. He stood in the back of the crowd only slightly pay attention, his focus was on a girl with bright blue hair. He had seen her sitting against the large tree not too far from where he stood since before the festival began and watched her read books back to back.

Gajeel was amazed, she was so engrossed in each book she pulled out of her heavy looking bag that he thought she might not even know there was so much excitement around her. She never once looked up at the noise of screams or the multitude of songs being played. He wanted her to notice him, he wanted to be the reason her focused veered from her books. Gajeel has seen her in that spot often when in between classes and has only witnessed one person successfully stop her from reading – a busty blonde that his cousin has a crush on. The blonde was only able to do that after minutes of yelling and bothering her nonstop (there may have been a few threats to hide her new books from her as well).

He has been entranced with the blue-haired girl ever since he saw when he first transferred to Fairy Tail University. He doubts she has ever even looked his way though. The bright pink hair of his cousin bobbing up and down took him out of his revere, signaling that they were about to perform. As he made his way to the back of the stage he started to get slightly nervous. Today is the first day they would be performing a song he wrote – coincidentally about the girl in the back of the crowd oblivious to the festivities. His cousin Natsu slaps him on the back with a stupid grin on his face, knowing what he was feeling.

Walking up to the stage the crowd cheered and although he tried to avert his gaze, as he began to sing his eyes couldn't help but wonder to the large tree and the girl underneath its shade. He saw the blonde break away from the crowd to try to bring her friend back to the world. He sang played his guitar with a flurry of emotion, while in his head he was begging her to notice him one of these days.

All of a sudden without acknowledging her friend, the blue-haired shorty snapped her head up meeting his eyes. He was too entrapped by the look she was giving him to be embarrassed to be caught staring. Her eyes were full of wonder. She allowed her friend to drag her closer to the crowd her eyes never leaving his as her book lay forgotten. She blushed and smiled shyly as she realized the intensity of each other's gazes. She bobbed her head to the song and he couldn't help but grin, feeling elated that she was only paying attention to him. After a few more songs, all of which she listened to and seemed to enjoy, it was time for the next band.
