Bucky hates seeing Steve like this. Sick in his hospital bed, but instead of a common cold this time it's old age.

"Do you remember when I used to take care of you back in the 30s?"
"Of course I remember," he smiled "This is like the same, but opposite."
"Yeah," Steve grabbed his hand, "have I told you about what I did when I went back?"
Bucky looked at the ground, "all you said was you went back for your true love."
"Do you know who that was?"
"Peggy."
"Wrong."
Bucky looked up at him in astonishment, "what do you mean? She was perfect for you?"
"Nah, I went back for you."
"What do you mean? You could've stayed."
"I couldn't live knowing all that happened to you, so I broke into hydra base. I took you before they could do any permanent damag-" his sentence was cut off by coughing.

Tears were fogging up the winter soldiers eyesight.

"I went back for you. I love you."
Bucky gripped Steve's hand tighter, "Stevie I love you too."

Steve's heart monitor started to beep slower. Bucky looked at him as he smiled.

"Til the end of the line," Steve whispered softly.
"Til the end of the line."

The lighter faded from his eyes as the machine flatlined. Steve's grip on Bucky's hand softened. Tears silently fell down his cheeks as he rested his head on the railing of the bed. Nurses rushed in trying to move Bucky out, but he knew, Steve was gone this time and wasn't coming back.
