…Prologue…
Mukashi Mukashi,
In a castle long ago, a royal babe was born.
All the land did celebrate that happy birthday morn.
But then a wicked witch appeared and warned the princess dear:
"Beware the rose, for when it pricks, you'll sleep for a hundred year."
"This evil spell," a fairy cried,
"Just might not have to be!
"A handsome prince—if brave and true—can kiss and set you free."
Years passed and then one woeful day,
The princess spied a rose.
She reached; she touched, and suddenly fell into a doze.
Then the cooks and jousters yawned and sank down sleeping on the marble floor.
All action 'round the kingdom froze and some began to snore.
In time, green spiny vines sprung up—the fairy made a plan:
She'd hide herself and wait for rescue from a noble man.
To every prince she came and begged,
"Please stop and help me, Sire."
But only one would take the time to free her from the brier.
Then to reward the worthy prince she flew him way up high,
Up to the tower where he saw the sleeping princess lie.
He kissed the sleeping beauty as she snoozed upon her chair.
The magic spell was broken, and they fell in love right there.
In the courtyard, castle folk began to stretch and sing.
"Tonight, we'll have a wedding feast!"
Proclaimed the Queen and King.
The wedding party danced and dined amidst the royal laughter.
The witch flew off and everyone in the enchanted castle lived happily ever after.
But, did the newlywed's dance continue even after the story was complete?
And what happened to the witch, who must've been ill suited to her new banishment?
And what of the little fairy?
Did she spend her days dancing in fields of flowers, or did she return to her original form:
A beautiful white swan?
All children who love stories, gather round, for one is about to unfold.
