A/N: This is a short oneshot, brought from procrastination when I should be studying for midterms...
We are unrecognizable now. The years have changed us, corrupted us, and destroyed us.
Condemned by our mortality, we yearned in our superiority for any chance to thwart our horrid fate. The rings, powerful, beautiful, were seemingly our chances. Magic beyond our comprehension was in our control.
We became greedy. Our hearts grew hard and cold against others. They were weak, and pitiful. They would wither and so die, and we in our glory would watch from above as if it was a performance for our amusement. They were disgusting; begging and moaning for our pity and mercy. They were nothing in our eyes.
The sun seemed to dim in its beauty. Everything seemed dull and unworthy; jewels, gold and silver, lost their shine. The petals of flowers wilted and fell to the ground in our hands.
We could no longer gain warmth from the fires; they burned with flames of ice, chilling our fingers when we reached out. Cold seeped into the marrow of our bones, causing us to freeze and pull back from those around us.
The decadent food and drink had no taste in our mouths. We gained no sustenance. The cool water no longer moistened our throats; it burned, causing us to throw our cups away in anger and despair.
Our families, those we loved, turned on us. Our wives lied and cheated, scorning us in our power. Our children changed in our minds, becoming bleak and petty.
The love we once held for life and Middle Earth was decaying.
Looking in the grand mirrors, the men we once were no longer existed. Our eyes were dark, holding no life. We had grown thin, our hair losing luster. Our skin hung on our bony frames, giving us the appearance of those who had risen from the dead.
We cursed the Valar. We cursed those of all races who lived in deceit around us. We hid in the shadow, shielding our faces from the sun.
Sauron understood. He called to us, charming us with his empathy for our pain. He could see the evil that breathed around us. He would aid us in their destruction.
Under his power, we would make the world pay. Each man, woman, and child deserved to die. With his word, we proudly wore the black robes and hid our faces.
Lost within ourselves, we failed to see our rings being plucked from our fingers. They had lost since lost their luster and no longer held beauty.
In our madness, we had failed to see that we no longer had control. Our eyes had become veiled.
In our madness, we no longer cared.
A/N: Please review. I haven't gotten reviews reciently...is my writing that bad?
