A/N: People will probably kill me because I still haven't updated my main megamanEXE fic, but I'm really trying to get back into a writing mood that doesn't concern just small drabbles and oneshots. Don't worry, my inability to work on Unwilling Partners is also frustrating me out...

Just For One Night...

Theresa was starting to regret ever dressing up as one of the protagonists of her favorite show. Sure, she had chosen that character because of the way she acted, an almost complete opposite of what she was and something she really wanted to achieve, but as soon as she set foot at the school for the evening Halloween dance, every single pair of eyes was on her.

Perhaps a dark Lolita-like dress was too much for her and she found herself trying to become smaller and smaller as she tried to reach the main hall.

However, her less than happy thoughts were halted when she saw a familiar figure making her way through the crowd with such a gait that it was as if it had the power to make everyone else step aside. With her sleeveless red dress cut right above the knees, Heidi looked like a diva. Just like it was in the show.

"Theresa!" Heidi greeted, a big smile on her lips and her trusty camera in a hand. "This comes as a surprise! I never thought you'd dress up this way! You look really good!"

Shy by nature, Theresa blushed and looked down at her hands. "Yes...you know... I like the show and... I thought... that maybe... just maybe... I could be a bit like her? Even if only for tonight?"

Theresa would have slapped herself repeatedly for how her voice came out. If she wanted to play the part as well as Heidi was doing with her chosen character, mumblings and insecurity were not part of it. Still, the idea that at least half the school was watching her and that she was being filmed for future broadcasting on Heidi's show was making her lightheaded.

"Come on! Don't be so shy!" Heidi grabbed the other girl's wrist with her free hand and started to pull her through the stunned crowd. "You are going to enjoy what I found earlier this evening!"

Confused and shocked, Theresa could only stumble after the most popular girl in the school with the growing awareness that she was becoming more than just a small oddity. Weaving through kids wearing all kind of costumes, more and more eyes were drawn upon the two, making Theresa wonder if she should take refuge into a nearby bathroom to escape all that attention.

At one point, Heidi came to a sudden halt and Theresa was so caught up in her own world that she literally crashed against the other girl's back, almost sending both to the ground in a heap. There was a moment where the shy girl tried to mumble out an apology, but was quickly interrupted by a familiar voice.

"Theresa?!" Debbie's voice was colored with shock and amazement. "Is that you? I mean, it is you, just... wow!"

Eyes quickly moving from Heidi to Debbie, Theresa nearly took a step back in surprise. Her best friend was dressed as one of the two main antagonists of her favorite show, and despite being smaller, the tight outfit she was using was giving off a feeling of authenticity. Next to her, using a similar outfit, but with many small differences, Morgan was the perfect copy of the second main antagonist.

Although still embarrassed for being the center of so much attention, Theresa felt a little better when she realized she was not alone, that she wasn't the only one to have the absurd idea of dressing up as one of the main characters of a popular show.

Heidi had been right.

Despite the initial awkwardness, she was starting to enjoy that evening dance.
