"Beck?"

Beck looked up.

"Hey Andrew. What's the word?"

"General Friend needs to speak with you"

Beck felt alarmed but he went into General Friend's office.

"Oliver. Sit down son"

"Sir yes sir," he saluted.

General Friend sighed.

"I'm sending you home son," he said gently.

"WHAT! Why?"

"Beck you didn't think it through when you signed up. You have a girlfriend who needs you and who loves you

Beck wasn't sure how he felt.

"Jade and I talked about this," he said, "She understands-"

"That's the problem son," General Friend said, "My wife gave birth this year. Six months later she died. I wasn't there to hold her hand or to tell her I love her when she took her final breath.

"It was expected that I would die first. I was a solider after all and not JUST a solider. I was a general. My wife's death left a gaping hole in my heart.

"You are just out of High School son. I will not allow Jade to go through what I'm suffering right now. She's too young to lose the love of her life. HELL I'm 40 and I'm still young to lose someone I love.

"You may have an hour to pack up and I will be driving you to the train station. You will be on the 8 o'clock train."

Beck never thought of it like that. He was really more focused on what he was supposed to do and even though he missed Jade terribly after the time they spent together he figured the next few years would be fairly easy.

It would have been hell for Jade and there was no guarantee he would survive. He loved his country but there were other ways of honoring his country that didn't involve tormenting Jade. Without thinking he hugged General Friend who returned the hug. An hour later he got on the train without any regrets. He was going home to Jade.

Obviously I don't own Victirious. Frankly that disclaimer is stupid because who in their right mind would think I own Victrious. Anyway there will be one final story after this in this particular series and then the General Friend series will probably be over but I'm writing plenty of stories so stay tuned
