Hello friends. This is one of my new stories, I'm working on two at the same time, there both my first ones. But, I got this BETAed by one of my friends. But, be nice, because I'm still learning.
Chapter 1
I awkwardly shuffled into the robe's shop. There were several other kids my age gathered around the counter and being fitted. I looked down at my letter, crumpled and dirty from being read so many times. I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed. Surely, if I forgot anything, my whole first year would be horrible. I already had my sister's old cauldron and textbooks, so there wasn't much left to get. I was really excited and nervous to get my wand. Some people said that Mr.Olivander was a creepy old guy, but I suspected that he was really very nice. I got in line behind a blonde girl whose hair was obviously dyed. How else could you get such perfect highlights? She was talking to her mother and her shoes were untied. Weirdo, Suddenly the girl turned around.
"Hi, I'm Tiffany. Are you a first-year?" she asked.
"Umm yeah. My name is Julia," I replied nervously. Why is she talking to me?
"Cool, are you nervous?" she asked.
"Well, it just seems a little overwhelming. Are you a first year too?"
"No, second. I was really nervous when I first came too. Maybe we'll be in the same house,"
The saleslady tapped Tiffany's shoulder anxiously. She had several pins in her mouth.
"Next please,"
"I'm in Hufflepuff house. See you around!" Tiffany called over her shoulder as the saleswoman pulled her arm to the fitting stool.
I just stood there thinking to myself, "Why did she talk to me?" I guess it's just in some people's nature to be friendly, and I was glad to have a friend at a school I hadn't even been to. After waiting a while I got fitted, and headed out. My mother was waiting by the wand shop. She took my robe bags and handed me a bag of coins.
"I have to go get your sister some special robes at some special shop so, could you get your wand by yourself?" My mother asked.
"I guess, where should I meet you?" I asked.
"Your father is at the broomstick shop so you can meet him there. Pick a good one honey,"
And with that I was alone in the busy street again. All I could do was open the door to the wand shop. The ancient bell jingled and an old man looked up from whatever he was doing. Unlike all the other shops I had been in that day, this one was empty. I approached the counter as the man shuffled some papers.
"Hi, my name is Julia and I'm looking for a wand,"
