Girls

I thought that for once, I'd like to write about Cyborg. I mean – the poor boy is a little bit ignored. I haven't seen a story about him for ages!! Anyway, I was originally going to pop this with my mini-series, but I decided that it wasn't enough about him, so it's just a little oneshot.

Disclaimer: I don't own Teen Titans or 'Across the lines' by Tracy Chapman

PLEASE R&R.

I was in love when I was ten years old. Her name was Elouise. She was a whole year older than me and only interested in seventeen year olds with cars. I can't say that she broke my heart because I was young, and my idea of showing her my love was by putting candy in her locker for her to find. Flowers on the doorstep. I bought her a snowglobe for her birthday, but she smashed it because the house wasn't the right colour and the snow didn't fall slowly enough. That was the end of Elouise and I.

I fell in love with a girl called Polly when I was fourteen. Polly – short for Pollyanna. My friends scorned and said she sounded like a children's doll. I laughed with them, but all I could think was that she looked a bit like a doll. Perfect porcelain coloured face, perfect cherry-red lips and long, thick lashes that cast shadows on her cheeks. She was beautiful, but her family wasn't interested in a boy like me and her brothers told me to stay away from her. She wanted to run away with me, but I was a coward. Too scared. So that was the end of pretty Polly and I.

When I was seventeen, there was a girl called Amelie. We dated on and off until my accident. We would sit together in my car and listen to Tracy Chapman singing 'Across the lines'. We felt that it was written for us. Her family liked me well enough, and I truly thought that after my accident, she would love me the same as she had before. But she didn't. She tried to, but she couldn't look past the metal as she had the colour of my skin. We broke up three months later.

I hated those girls. And I loved them. I remember all the girls. There were others after Amelie, when the Teen Titans got popular and everyone wanted us, and I know all their names. Because you never know when you might not have anything but your memories. And these, my friends, are the best days of our lives, so remember them well.
