Barbara was sitting in her bare room perched on the corner of the bed flipping through a book Susan thought she'd enjoy. It was a personal journal of the Doctor's giving details of trips and events through histories he'd seen. Over half the pages were blank, when Barbara asked why Susan just shrugged. Though history was her specialty the Doctor was a boring historian just facts and figures, all the emotion and feeling was missing. No wonder he had given up on documenting!

"Careful!" Ian shouts as he pokes his head into the door after being hit in the stomach by a flying book.

"I'm so sorry. Are you alright?"

"Just fine. The Doctor's journal? Sounds interesting!" He starts to flip through the pages.

"Think again Ian. All that can do is put you in a sleeping zone for twenty years."

"It can't be that bad."

"If you don't trust me go on and keep it." Ian nods in agreement and walks away nose in the pages, he reaches his room still reading. He was desperate to find something interesting as he thought he would, he'd hate to give Barbara the satisfaction of agreeing with her.

Date fifth of April 1848 on Earth. Dinner with Cochise. Had peach cobbler pie for dessert.

"Ugh!" Reaching his boiling point Ian tosses the book in the same fashion Barbara had.

"Young man is that how you treat someone's personal property? Mmm?" The Doctor stands a few steps away, with the journal and a scowl.

"No. My apologizes."

"Where did you get this Chedderfield?" Ian bites the inside of his cheek before responding.

"Barbara and I think she got it from Susan. A welcome home gift."

"A what?"

"A welcome home gift since it seems this will be our home for awhile." The Doctor hmpfs before turning off.

The Doctor wasn't accustom to guests and people in general. For the longest time he was quite fine by himself, traveling when and where he wanted. No ones safety or feelings to worry about. No girly blue stockings sitting in chairs, no boundaries. Susan being here was fine (usually) after all she was family and close to his heart. But the other two! More so him the Doctor often wanted nothing more than to leave him on a planet like Gumiboit with it's retched ice storms that last twenty two hours a day. Feelings for him weren't soothed any by reading his personal journal. He'd have to have a talk with Susan about passing his private property around.

"Susan may I see you for a moment?"

"Sure grandfather." He smiles softly at the sound of thudding feet running towards him.

Susan knew she was likely in trouble when she reached Grandfather and he was tightly holding the book she had given to Barbara a few hours ago.

"Susan you do realize this mine right?"

"Yes I know, but I thought you didn't want it." The Doctor's eyes grow wide and kerfuffled.

"Didn't want it? Didn't want it!?"

"Yeah, I mean half the pages are blank." She says sheepishly.

"Have you ever thought that perhaps I haven't had a chance to write more?"

"I suppose I hadn't. I'm sorry grandfather! I didn't realize it meant so much to you." She reaches over to hug him tightly.

"Oh calm yourself child! You know I should share my past adventures with you! Keep the book, read it." She lets go, but doesn't take the book.

"I already read it."

"What you think?' She's silent. "Well?"

"To be honest it was pretty dreadful." The Doctor says nothing as he walks off just muttering something about how it was better alone.
