Beacon academy
40 years before the events of RWBY: Volume 1
"All right kids, before class ends I should remind you that you all choose assignments in two days. It's every student's responsibility to come to me and inform me if they'll be missing classes, not your team leaders. That being said I'll see you all in a couple of days, enjoy your weekend."
Right on time the bell rang and the students filed out of the classroom and Professor Ozpin pushed his way.
"Good class professor?" Ozpin asks, making his way to EMbyr's desk at the front of the room.
"Oh, you know the students, they know history is important but they don't actually care to pay attention in class. I like my 10:00 class much better."
"Now now, you know you're not supposed to pick favourites."
Embyr laughed to herself, "Yeah, but it's only natural."
"Indeed. So, do you have any plans this weekend?"
"Oh, nothing really."
"Any trips into Vale?"
"Perhaps," Embyr said, knowing exactly where Ozpin was going with this conversation.
"Embyr, you are supposed to be setting a good example for your students. Going into Vale every weekend to deal with criminals may not be a good example."
"What I do in my free time is my business."
"True. However, the students whisper about you and your trips."
"Oz, I wear a helmet even when teaching a class, they will always whisper about me. I know where you're going with this, and no."
"Why not? The students will be choosing their assignments in two days, why not take them with you for once?"
"They're kids Oz. You and I play on a completely different level than them, even after they've graduated. It's too dangerous."
"It doesn't have to be. No need to go off and keep Remnant from collapsing. Just a week of following one of the best huntresses in the world."
"One of?"
"Please, they could learn so much from your experience."
"That's how you convinced me to teach here Oz.'Your Experience can teach them things no other teacher can' you told me. While that may be true, that experience should be utilized fighting, not teaching," Embyr said knowing she wouldn't win this battle. "Look, I'll think about it, But there'll have to be conditions."
"Such as?"
"Well, for one, no first year students. They'll have no chance where I'm going."
"And where are you going?"
"Number two, where we go is my business. If you want me to do this then I must have complete freedom to go where and do what I want."
"All right."
"And finally, if a team signs up that I- for any reason- do not want, I can turn them down."
"Done."
"No, no, not done yet. I still have to think about it Oz."
