A goddess in blue and her hero in grey
Went walking along through the fairground one day
She shines like the sun, her radiance clear
And you can see by his face, he wasn't there for the fair
His eyes try to catch hers, she doesn't catch on
So he just listens politely as they walk along
After a while he suggests they sit down
There's a table with a view, you can see all around
And after too much to drink, at least that's what he said
He inquires of her if she'd like to be wed
In words indirect, he asks for her hand
But the goddess in blue does not understand
She thinks it's a question, but not meant for her
So she says that she likes things the way that they were
She can't see that it hurts him, the pain in his eyes
And when he says that he's sorry, she doesn't realise
The idea of changing never even crossed her mind
She doesn't know that his words meant life of that kind
So he tries to let go, with all of his might
Yet he still dreams of the goddess in blue dressed in white
