Author's Note: Hi! This is my first ever Fangirl fan fiction! :) I love the book- probably my favorite book EVER! And I want to write a fan fiction about it :D Please no flames- I'm getting better! This is kind of my look on people hating my fandoms, BTW. Sorry if it's not very good- my first attempt at writing Fangirl fan fiction EVER! Please share thoughts! Means a lot :)
Also, please tell me if you feel the same about you're main fandom... Because... It annoys me so much...
Cath and Wren are like 13 and in Middle School.. Where the fandom hate begins...
Cath didn't understand why everyone suddenly hated Simon Snow.
Last year- 6th grade- liking Simon Snow was okay. But now, everyone suddenly judged her and Wren for liking it.
Mostly her though.
Wearing a Simon Snow t-shirt was okay. Watching the Simon Snow movies were okay. Rereading the Simon Snow books for the umpteenth time was okay also- but loving the fandom to death? Basically living in the fandom? No, it was unacceptable.
One girl had found her FanFixx account and spammed it with hate. Cath'd cleared it all up, but the girl had told everyone.
And everyone means everyone.
Now everyone looks at her weird. Some have even called her the 'Simon Snow girl'.
Cath was used to getting weird looks in the hall. She was the weird girl- she'd accepted it.
But Wren hadn't accepted it.
She'd almost gotten expelled last week for yelling some pretty 'unrespectable' and 'uncalled for' words in the hall when one girl had laughed and rolled her eyes at Cath for writing a Simon Snow fan fiction on a piece of notepaper.
"She didn't even read it." Wren had said later that night. "She just assumed it was Simon Snow related because you're the 'Simon Snow girl' and liking Simon Snow is stupid and all that crap."
Cath had nodded, saying nothing in return. She looked down at her homework and kept going.
"Cath, you're not seriously listening to her, right?" Wren groaned, walking over towards Cath's side of the room.
"No, I'm not." Cath said softly. "But I didn't need you to do that for me."
Wren laughed, crossing her arms as she sat down next to Cath. "Perks of having a twin, right?"
"I'm serious." Cath looked up.
Wren rolled her eyes. "Come on, Cath, I can't let people say stuff about you because you like something."
Cath sighed. "You still didn't need to-"
"Cath, just accept it." Wren smiled. "I'm going to yell at anyone who calls Simon or Baz stupid. Anyone who calls your fan fictions stupid is 2 things- 1, in denial, and 2, stupid."
Cath rolled her eyes. "My fan fiction isn't that good-"
"Are you kidding me? It's better than mine."
"I keep telling you that you're not writing Simon and Baz arguing over nothing enough."
Wren laughed, rolling her eyes. "Whatever."
Cath still didn't understand why no one liked Simon Snow though. She didn't think she ever would.
What's not to like? You have magic, romance, suspense, mystical creatures... Everything.
What's not to like about that?
