Because the season 1 finale of Justice League made me cry.
Disclaimer: I have nothing to claim.
Steve Trevor's funeral was a small affair. His wife, children, and grandchildren were seated at the front. His fellow veterans were in the audience as the younger generation of army soldiers carried the coffin. The one invitee most guests were shocked to see at this soldier's funeral was seated next to the new widow.
Diana was dressed in her usual superhero ensemble, which singled her out from the greys and blacks from the people around her. While she looked different from the rest of the group, Wonder Woman felt something akin to what the widow, her children, and all of Steve's loved ones and colleagues felt. For the first since coming to man's world, Diana felt sadness.
Her trusted colleague, a man who risked his life to end a war, a man who saved hers multiple times, had died. Even though they only knew each other for one night, what they've done connected each other together. Their connection transcended generations, and even when years have gone by, Steve always remembered her.
She was his guardian angel after all.
Maybe, with Steve in heaven, he can watch over her.
