'Twas The Night: A Christmas Poem

'Twas the night before Christmas, Christmas Eve if you will, and the weather outside gave a terrible chill.

Out in the twilight, all alone, a young boy waited, chilled to the bone.

"Where is he?" the boy thought, twisting and turning his scarf into a knot.

Puffing hot breath into the air, he began to wonder why he was there.

Waiting, just as the note had told, standing here alone out in the cold.

"I can't believe I'm doing this. It's freezing out here!" he said, looking to see if the other was near.

He sighed. How could he have been such a fool? He turned and headed back to the school.

"Moony. I'm here." whispered a warm voice in his ear.

"Jesus, Padfoot! Don't scare me like that!" Moony yelled, falling in the snow with a soft pat.

Chuckling a hot stream of smoke, Padfoot swiftly removed the invisability cloak.

Moony hurriedly stood to his feet, his cheeks turning as red as a beet.

"Why did you make me come here tonight?"

"I wanted to give you your present. Is that alright?"

Moony's eyes widened and turned down to his feet. He was shocked Padfoot could do something so sweet!

"But Christmas isn't until tomorrow. Why should I have it now?"

Padfoot gaped, furrowing his brow.

"Well, it's very special you see. A very special gift to you from me."

Both were silent for a while, 'till Padfoot broke it with a smile.

"So, do you want your present?", he asked with a voice quite pleasant.

Moony nodded and smiled, feeling giddish like a child.

"Good!" Padfoot said "Now close your eyes."

Moony did so, not wanting to ruin his suprise.

"Merry Christmas, Moony!" Padfoot said.

A bunch of mistletoe floated above Moony's head.

Soft and sweet, the boys' lips met.

Moony smiled. "Thank you, Padfoot. This is the best Christmas yet."
