It's a cold December evening in Jump City. Dark, with bitter wind and snow. Which makes the interior of the Titan's Tower seem all the more pleasant. The Tower is particularly warm and festive this evening with Christmas on they way. Lights have been strung up, a tree decorated, ornaments everywhere, and crime rates are even at a low, giving the Titans some time to relax and enjoy the season.
Starfire has fully embraced this Earth holiday. Friendship and warmth are what she's all about anyways, and with Christmas on the way the alien princess has completely dived into the holiday spirit of joy and giving. Right now, already having strung lines of colorful bulbs across the walls and ceiling, Starfire is baking up cookies and treats by the score. To ensure her friends' happiness, she's using Earth recipes rather than Tamaraniam ones (having learned through trial and error that human palettes are suited to different tastes). No one in the tower can walk by her counter without taking a little nibble of something, much to Starfire's delight.
Robin is setting presents under the tree. Ever the hard worker, he's the first one to have gotten all of his holiday shopping done. The only problem is that he keeps getting tinsel stuck to his cape whenever he moves. He'd ask for help getting it off but he knows there's a 50/50 chance or better that his teammates would just mischievously throw more on him.
Raven is sitting at the kitchen table reading and eating the head off a gingerbread man. Though she often prefers solitude, not even she can resist the feelings of togetherness in the tower tonight. Cyborg is near the window trying to build a music box as a Christmas present to Starfire. It's going well, but he keeps getting distracted by all those cookies lying on the counter. Those things are too good to go ten minutes without eating.
As for Beast Boy, the green changeling is on the couch watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." It's a classic, no Christmas would be complete without it. As the movie ends, Beast Boy finds himself hungry for some snacks. Near the same time, Raven remembers she left her tea cup in the living room earlier in the day and rises to go get it. The two pass each other on the small set of stairs that connects the two rooms.
"Hold it!" Cyborg calls out as the two walk by each other. "You guys know how it goes," he grins… a bit sinisterly, I might add.
Mistletoe.
On the ceiling.
Starfire's handiwork from when she was decorating earlier. Thanks for that, Star.
Beast Boy looks at Raven and blinks. She looks back and begins to blush a little.
"Now Beast Boy…" she starts, taking half a step back.
BB knows he should probably feel nervous, this is Raven after all. The girl who could send you to another dimension if you annoyed her too much. But instead, he chooses to feel a bit daring. After all, what's the point of life without a bit of fun?
He smiles mischievously.
Her eyes widen.
He kisses her right on the lips, briefly but confidently.
The room is completely silent as he takes a step back and grins a large grin. Whistling merrily to himself he continues on his way to the pantry and the chips that lay within. Raven hasn't moved. Her fingers are lightly touching her lips. Suddenly, she snaps back to reality. She clears her throat and moves along as if nothing happened.
Starfire, Robin, and Cyborg look at each other for a few moments and begin laughing quietly amongst themselves. Beast Boy is braver than they thought, and the fact that Raven didn't set him on fire with a thought bodes rather well.
What this situation needs is more mistletoe…
The End
