If You can Dream If You can Dream

Prologue

Leah smiled as she and Carley stood outside the swamp.

The skies were blue and peace had returned to Duloc after defeating Una.

Fiona smiled watching them with Snowgre laughing and goofing off.

She saw worry in her husband's eyes.

"What's wrong?" she asked him.

Shrek broke out of the trance he'd been in.

"I'm worried about them. In their world, their potential and dreams will be destroyed or crushed by other humans.

I know Carley's twenty but magic burns in her heart brighter than any flame.

The same with Leah.

It'll always be there in them if they believe." He told her.

Snowgre walked with them into the village.

He was curious about their world seeing he was fourteen and curious.

"Some things in our world are great and mysterious but… some things aren't.

If you went… there, you'd need to find humans who like you for you.

Mortals can be cold hearted towards those who are different.

Trust me, I know." Carley said as she walked using her symbol cane.

He nodded sadly.

"Maybe you might find a family of you in your world.

I love you for who you are as well as Shrek." He thought.

Later that night Carley saw Shrek approach her.

He put something around her neck.

It was a purple crystal in metal clasps.

"Thanks man.

What is it?" she asked him.

"It's something to keep your heart tied to us and here when you go back into your world.

I know back there, people will try to stop you from dreaming and being yourself but don't listen to them.

They don't know what they say.

Your strongest powers are your imagination and your belief.

Even people tried to stop you, you never stopped believing in me or Leah." He told her.

Tears shone in her eyes as they hugged.

"Y-You're like the father I never had.

I don't want to leave you." She replied.

"I don't want you to leave either.

You're the human daughter I wish was mine.

Even though we're miles apart in distant worlds, we're always going to be together.

In our hearts and dreams." He replied to her.

A smile crossed the teen's face at that.

The crystal around her neck glowed.

Leah smiled as the portal appeared.

"Hey, you ready to go home?" she asked.

Carley nodded sadly following her.

Before going into the portal, she took a lingering look at her friends and went through it.

"Don't forget us." Snowgre thought as the portal faded…
