He sat by the well. He was patient. Even though she hadn't come back in 3 years, he still came by everyday. He still had hope. Maybe, just maybe, she'd come home.
Home. What an unfamiliar term. It had been so long since he truly had one. Not since his mother died. He couldn't even remember having a speck of home when he was with Kikyou. Always, he'd been alone. Always, he couldn't find a place called home. He never belonged.
It wasn't until he met her that he could understand what home meant to him. What it meant to always have somebody to return to. It didn't hit him suddenly. No, before it scared him. Homes weren't always lasting. Homes could be temporary. She could have been too.
But all these years, she'd always come back. Sometimes it was with his own influence, sometimes on her own. Even when she'd leave angry or upset, she'd always jump right back over that old well, a smile on her face. She came back for the fight, she came back for all her friends, she came back for him.
That, that was home. To always have her near, to always have her give him a place to be. She never turned him away. It wasn't always just a place, it was her. Just her.
Kagome was home.
And she'd be back soon. Kagome always returned home. She always returned to him.
Author's Note - I know, I'm really rusty!! I haven't written a full on story in months. But after reading a review from Desenchanter, I was completely inspired. So forgive me if this isn't really good, I'm trying to get back into the swing of writing!!
