EASY LIKE SUNDAY MORNING
Detective Inspector Robbie Ross awoke bright and early one sunny Sunday morning to the aroma of freshly brewed ground coffee and the scent of Roxie on the pillow next to him, to his dismay, the bed was empty. Scratching his bed-head and grabbing his black dressing gown that had pride of place behind the pine-panelled bedroom door he made his way to the open plan kitchen.
He opened the door and there stood the object of his affections and masculine desire, a petite lady with titian curls that cascaded softly down her back, she stood at the kitchen worktops who was busy in her own world whisking eggs and listening to the romantic and soulful voice of Lionel Richie.
He watched every movement his younger partner made with adoration, appreciation and admiration, he stood watching not even a word passed his lips, the only emotion he displayed was a cheeky boyish grin and the only movement he made was the tilting of his head with each movement Roxie made.
Standing on her bare footed tiptoes to reach an object from an overhead cupboard, Roxie struggled for a while, before at last Robbie stood behind her 'am here for ya hen' and then passed to her the stubborn jar of peppercorns that was out of reach to his female partner. She turned to face him, 'thanks tall guy' she said laughing 'anytime hen' Robbie said still grinning like a naughty schoolboy. He outstretched his tanned arms and enveloped Roxie completely. 'You made that pretty damn easy Inspector Ross' Roxie said looking up at him, with his forefinger and thumb he rubbed her chin 'easy like Sunday morning' he then kissed her with a passion that wasn't to be ignored.
