The Idiotic Smile

The widest grin possible across a face, eyes were usually alight as well. Seeming to know something

Judai didn't'. A look he didn't quite understand. A condition, his friends seem to have taken ail to, time

and again. The rather idiotic smile plastered on the face. Judai thought of what possibly could cause that

smile. Despite his cheerful nature, Judai had never had that smile upon his face. Frustrated, he felt as if

everyone who had that smile grace their features was in a club that Judai was not a part.

Quite set to discover the secret, Judai noticed on Manjoume's face that idiotic smile while Asuka walked

his way which quickly disappeared as her direction turned to him. Still, its appearance was so brief that

Judai knew not what feelings made it take shape. Judai went through the list in his head of what could it

be at all that he'd never felt. Parading down the festival, Judai saw the enigma on another's face as

Fubuki surrounded by admirers, noticed one that did not give chase. Blinking, Judai marveled at what he

saw as it seemed that none of it was related at all. More confused than before, in the icy plane, Johan's

face revealed that expression twice. Once as he slipped onto a snowy sheet, snow sprinkled across his

form as a few local girls laughed and eyed him with a rather knowing look with the smallest of smiles.

Briefly, Judai thought he'd seen it once before. Shaking his head, Judai had no time to decipher the new

smile yet. So, he let his foe pass until it rose again. Second, rising from its slumber, the antagonizing

smile appeared as Johan summoned Rainbow Dragon in all its wonder. Judai felt the burning need to

know yet Yubel had shaken her head and insisted that he learn on his own. Groaning in annoyance, it

really couldn't be that hard to figure out if everyone had know the secret, surely Judai's turn could not

be left without.

So, Judai let it be, for so long, that he hardly remembered what troubled him. Standing on his tippy toes,

far from the front of the stadium, Judai watched Asuka's college graduation match as it finished with a

flash. Of all who stood at the front, Asuka with eagle eyes waved to him first with pure joy. The

troublemaker marked his mouth, a spark reached Judai's eyes as his epiphany came as to what feeling

caused the stupefying grin, self satisfied pride.

AN: I hope it was evident what smile I was talking about. I wouldn't think Judai would know considered that it is normally associated with a significant other but not always such as Johan case. I happen to find the scene with Johan amusing and it is meant to contrast and also to confuse Judai, so don't take it too seriously. Hope you enjoyed this little piece. ^^
