If you want something, you have to give up something equally as valuable.
This has been the number one rule of alchemy. As National Alchemist, I should know that.
Yet, nothing could be as valuable as Alphonse. For what we did just to revive our mother. We had to pay a price. A hefty one. Me? A leg. But my brother? His life. I gave up my arm just to contain his soul in a suit of armor. If I hadn't done that… If I hadn't gave up it just to save him, I don't know what I'd do.
Al has always been more mature than I. That I will admit. Even if he is only one year younger than me. He thinks things through. Never rushes into danger. Although he is not as skilled as me in alchemy, he makes that up in wisdom.
I admire my brother.
That's why I will do everything in my power to find that stone, and give him his body back. Just like he deserves.
